Yay number two broken.

Recommended Posts

This is my second PS3 this year to have the blu-ray drive break on me. The first time they wanted 150 bucks to fix it after it had been out of warranty for a couple of months and now they want it again. This is ****ing bull****. I am sorry about the cursing but there is no way the same ****ing thing should happen again. I am seriously thinking about not getting it fixed. Hell I don't have the money anyway. So I am going to have to keep calling until they understand that I am not going to pay for them to fix the same problem AGAIN. Just completely unacceptable. This is going to be my third PS3. I am on my second 360 and I have never had to pay to get it fixed. Sorry about the rant but some of you should be able to understand how extremely irate I am.

Ouch.

Do they give you another year warranty after replacing it the first time?

Cause that must be incredibly unlucky to have it fail both times after the warranty has run out two years in a row.

Hopefully you can try and get it sorted for free.

Though I am always surprised when people don't buy an extended warranty on expensive technology, my parent bought mine and paid like ?30 or something near that extra amount to have it covered for 3 years.

And I would rather be safe than sorry.

But still, good luck, and keep trying, you might make a brake through eventually.

Yea they give a little 90 day warranty. Which I am over by a couple of months same as the first time. I called and spoke to a "supervisor" and he kept repeating the same thing over and over like a drone saying that he couldn't do anything for me and all of that. I am just so ****ed off that I am going to have to give these people another 150 dollars for the same problem they "fixed" earlier this year. What annoys me the most is that it happens both times right after my warranty has ended. Also the first time it happened I had just signed up for netflix and I go to put my first Blu-Ray movie, from them, in and it fails. This time it fails right before Lost Season 4 comes out on Blu-ray....fun fun. I bet there aren't many people out there that can say they have gone through more PS3s than Xbox360s.

Everybody I know whose PS3 has broken, has all been to do with the BD drive... Mostly those with a 60GB version...

the two i've had break on me were 40gb, both times the problem being the BD drive.

the extra 90 day warranty is crap as well, should be another year. they're basically saying we'll give you a perfect refurbished/fixed console back, but we're not gonna guarantee its that good!

Like many of you read, mine crapped out yesterday. Sony are replacing it even though its 18 months old and out of warranty. Things aren't always as bad as it sounds and its always worth calling them.

I wish they were the same way in the US.

I might look into getting the Sony Continuous Play warranty once my year is up. ?60 a year isn't too bad I guess as it also covers 'accidental' damage:))
I wish they were the same way in the US.

Yeah actually, I just looked into this Sony Continuous Play Warranty as I figured it could not hurt things, and it turns out it is only a thing based in the UK. I know if I ever have an issue with my PS3, I will raise some hell about this fact and make sure they are crystal clear on the fact I would have paid for it if I had the option.
