Yep there are still lots of areas still without broadband. And broadband is very expensive here with the addition of almost NO "truly unlimited" broadband, but only x amount of GBs before getting shaped to 64kbits/s

When I had dialup back in 2004 I recorded this sound of my NetComm connecting:

what if you are using an EVDO card on your laptop? or tethered to your phone? or connected via a cellualr network? satelite?

or the situation I'm in right now.... I'm studying in London for a semester and the place I'm living has a HORRILE network infrastructure... to the point where if more than 100 (out of the 300-ish people that live there) cliets are on-line... internet conectivty becomes PAINFULLY slow...

still millions of reasons to put this warning on thraeds with large images.

"56k warning" doesn't mean ACTUALL 5k modem users... just a flag that there will be high bandwidth requierments to view the thread
