Please Help: Crashing in SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition

I got SimCity 4 not too long ago, and love it. However, lately, it's been crashing a lot. It takes me from in-game, to a black screen, then to the desktop. All without any error messages. It's almost as if my computer is saying, "I don't feel like running SimCity 4. Too bad for you =P" And beating the hard drive isn't working (obviously).

Any solutions?

Specs:

*Windows Vista Home Premium

*Toshiba Satellite notebook PC

*Intel 945 Chipset Family

*Plenty of avalable RAM, and memory on my hard drive.

Yes, assign 1 processor only to the simcity4.exe process, and save often anyway. It happens to me all the time, and the fault is the dual-core.

that wont help Joel but i would suggest running the game in xp compatability mode,also do you have 32bit or 64bit?also do you have sp1 and all updates and latest drivers installed?

Are you sure? I've never heard of a "dual core problem" before.

i played Sim City 4 a lot a few months ago and never had any problems with an E8400 and Vista x64
