what visual style is this for ubutnu ?

woah that does look nice, cant help you there but the wallpaper is most likely by one of the following artists:

well hopefully mark jensen will know. :)

markjensen isn't all that into theming. :p Not into Gnome or such, either. Pretty much just a Linux & Fluxbox user.

Plus there isn't much to see in that theme, other than the wallpaper. One icon for the 'start' button. The icons for the CD images. And just about 3 icons more. You can't see any of the menus, or any window decorations at all.

It's sort of like looking at a tire print in the mud, and asking what color the car is. :p

But glad (and mildly surprised) you got it sorted out.

i have the newest version of ubutnu installed ( grated im still a linux NOOB ) it stalls fine but when you look under the theme tab is stays will not run properly with out said engine installed

from the link to the theme

very bottom

IMPORTANT:

* Make sure you have the latest versions possible of both the Murrine and Aurora engines installed.

i need to get the other and learn how to install both

You've got some combination of a OS X theme and something, don't you?

Cool but anyone know where to get the icon bit of it?

"This theme will not look as intended because the

intended icon theme 'neon' is not installed."

http://drop.io/hcarvalhoalves/asset/neon

the theme itself is too dark, such a shame too, makes the windows horribly dark. :(

There are three different themes and two of them are not dark at all! You can change settings in "Appearance Preferences" > select any theme and then go "Customise" Once you are in the "Customize Theme" click on the Controls and choose Aurora or Aurora-looks Have a look at the screeny I posted on that one I am using Aurora.

@The_Decryptor: The link you gave appears to be a windows theme? It's not a icon pack or am I being stupid? I downloaded the file and is definitely not a icon pack! Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!

I see the OP was not using Linux but perhaps he has finished his Ubuntu download now!

OK I put the Neon folder in the .icon folder and when I tried to change the icon set it gave me this error: "The NetworkManager applet could not find some required resources. It cannot continue." it loads most of the icons but something is causing it not to be happy! Thanks anyway! I am using the Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit OS.

    • I just looked on my computer and there are settings and log files for utilities I have never even turned on!
    • O&O ShutUp10 3.1.1104 by Razvan Serea O&O ShutUp10 offers a simple yet effective way to take control of your Windows privacy. It provides access to almost 50 privacy-related tweaks, most of them hidden or not easily accessible to the average computer users. Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10/11 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated. Using ShutUp10 you can easily disable Windows Defender, turn off telemetry, disable peer-to-peer updates, turn off Wi-Fi Sense, disable automatic Windows updates, turn off and reset Cortana and more. ShutUp10 allows you to create a System Restore point before you apply any changes, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems. O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days! O&O ShutUp10 Free and Premium The latest version brings O&O ShutUp10 Premium, expanding the app’s long-standing privacy controls with automatic enforcement of user-defined settings. Instead of manually rechecking options after every Windows update, users can set their preferred privacy configuration once—or apply recommended settings in a single click—and the tool continuously monitors them in the background. If Windows 10 or 11 re-enables disabled features or introduces new data collection paths, Premium restores the chosen settings automatically without user intervention. The free version remains available and fully functional for manual adjustments, offering the same core privacy controls for Windows. However, the Premium tier is aimed at users who want long-term, hands-off protection, adding automatic reapplication after updates, ongoing monitoring, and optional notifications to ensure privacy settings remain consistent over time. • Fascinating...W h i t e P o w e r is now also asterisks out.
    • In the past few days I have noticed two odd moderation activities. First, when I posted the term 'White Nationist Christian' it was asterisk's out. When I changed it to **** it was allowed! Second, in the Politics is a ###business thread I was allowed to post that the GOP is a party of p e d ophiles but I was censored  when I posted the GOP are a party of p e d ophile protectors. Wtf Neowin. Please explain.
