Converting Powerpoint Presentation into a movie

Question

Hey guys,

I designed and maintained the website for my fire company, http://www.tacomafire.org. My chief made a power point presentation (complete w/ music, that the music runs from a separate CD...) that has all of the highlights throughout the year for our members.

1) Is there a way I can convert this PPT into some movie?

2) Is there a way I can have this movie on the website, embedded, so people will see a box and they will click play to view it?

Thanks!

To embed it you could just do:

<embed src = "randomslideshow.ppt">

random powerpoint slideshow

</embed>

But it all depends whether they have PowerPoint installed or not.

I'm guessing that to convert it to video you would run it through Microsoft Windows Movie Maker.

Thanks for the reply Offin. I got a lot of ideas on how to get it to a video, but now I'm running into problems working on the audio. The presentation was initially made using audio that would read directly from a CD. Since I want to make this a video, I figured that I would need to add them directly to the file. So I ripped the songs from the CD that my Chief made into mp3's. I'm having many issues working with the files. I'm having problems where I add the 5 audio files, and have attempted tweaking the delay... there is nothing that says, "Play these 5 files in order and go through the show"... so it makes it kind of difficult.

Now I'm back to having problems where the slide won't transition to the next slide, even though play through slides is enabled and the slide is set to change after 4 seconds, it doesn't. It's giving me a killer headache! :)

You added the five tracks to the Powerpoint? Maybe it waits for each track to finish before moving, not really sure. Maybe download Audacity and merge them into one track.

Why not just take full-screen screenshots of each slide, save each one with Paint, and then import the images and music with Window Movie Maker?

Drag each track onto the timeline, right after the last one, drag your images then onto the timeline, set their length, add transitions.

Of course Google searching 'convert powerpoint to video' or 'convert powerpoint to flash' brings up results that might be interesting to you as well.

Audacity is a really good idea, I've used that application before and I love it. I wouldn't do the movie maker role... 218 slides is far too many for me to lose my insanity with trying to take SS's of each to do it that way. I've also googled those and have found various results, just looking for a way to fix my music now.
