Win server 2003 internet access problems

Recommended Posts

I in no way am an expert with windows server 2003 and I really need some help!

My dad owns a small business with only about 5 computers on the server network. All the computers connect to the

server to get the internet. Lately for some reason all the computers can't connect to any websites through internet explorer

but emails and a few other apps still work with the net.

Please help! I've tried to fix it myself but I'm not educated AT ALL with how windows server works.

Just as a note the server computer its self doesn't work on internet explorer either, yet emails and stuff are fine???

Please help me, It would save the business alot of time and money instead of wasting money on a computer tech in these financial times

PLEASE!!!

EDIT: Can seriously no one help??

Are external emails fine or is just internal emails?

If it's internal, it won't need the internet to work would imply no internet at all.

If external is working it could be a proxy server setup.

What error messages do you get on the clients when trying web pages?

Do they have a proxy server setting?

I don't think you will save any time in this although it could save you money...

Ok, so is there a proxy server setup? If there is, the PC's would have it in IE>InternetOptions>Connections>LANSettings

Saying that the web pages simply won't open is not all that helpful. There should be at least some info/error message as to the problem. Turning off http friendly http errors may help as well by unchecking IE>InternetOptions>Advanced>ShowFriendlyHTTPErrors.

LOL!!!!

Haha It turned out to be the smallest problem ever 0.0

I was just toggling round with random stuff and I saw a lil router hiding behind in the corner

so i restarted the router and guess what? Everything is working fine now.

thx anyway lolz!
