I had one of those ms9s from sony but it got stolen so the insurance company replaced it with this beauty,

nwms70.jpg

, with full compression it can hold like 200 songs at a quality audibly identical to CD :D It also has a built in abttery that charges in 1.5 hours and lasts FOREVER. I love it!

I have the 512 MB model from iRiver - it is sweeeeet !!

Best buy i've ever done - the sound is great and the menu system is huge. You can change everything to your liking.

I had a MD from Sony with one of those special rechargeable batteries, and I wouldnt recommend it. It was fine in the beginning but after 3 years or so the battery was dead. After a recharge it would only last a ? hour or so.

oh my god, thats pretty sleek, whats the model??? tell me tell me :D

Itys the SONY MS-MS70D , its awesome the only complaint is that the software supplied is really inept at handling so many files, it takes like 2 minutes to refresh the list of songs on it and theres no way to stop it from doing it after every tiny change. I love it to bits tho :D TThe inbuilt memory is 256mb, thats 200 songs, it cna also be upgraded with a memory stick duo to whatever your budget allows. It also doubles as a portable HD< but since you owned an IPOD youd no doubt laugh at the prospecty of a 256mb portable HD :p

i tried to google it but nothing came up. what gives?

oh yeah, Sony stuff is pretty slow, my sister's Cybershot loads the picture really slow compared to my Fujifilm.

 256MB holds 200 songs?! the bitrate must be realllllly low..

kowcop, the muvo looks really ugly.. moreover i have a usb flash drive as my keychain already, so that doesn't appeal to me at all.

Krook, do you know if the iRiver supports Mac? from iRiver.com, it says it only supports Windows, but in the firmware upgrade section, there's a Mac version for you to upgrade the firmware from Mac. so i'm confused. emailed them but haven't replied me.

haha by the way, 3 years man, it should die.. that's acceptable. i wouldn't use a player for 3 years tho.. there's just toooo much stuff out there..

I managed to find this on the iRiver website:

http://www.iriver.com/support/download_vie...e&p_name=&word=

Seems to be a beta version of a Mac iRiver player manager.

Not sure what it actually does/supports but there'll probably be a readme in the dmg. I'd have a look myself but I'm miles away from my Mac at the moment.

My Clie doubles as an Mp3 Player. I got 5 (128mb Memory Sticks)

whoaa.. my clie (peg-nr70v) is bigger than iPod... won't use it as mp3 player although i have a 256MB memstick.

i'm still leaning towards the iRiver. hope they make it Mac compatible.

iBead. Like the MuVo, it plugs directly into any PC's USB port , allows for dragging and dropping, and doubles as a portable storage device. Like the iRiver iFP series, you get an LCD screen with information, firmware that is upgradeable, an FM tuner with recorder, and a voice recorder. Unlike either, you get the choice of having either 128 or 256 megabytes of data storage which means up to 60 mp3s, and a USB rechargeable internal LithiumIon Battery. If only they implemented a 512 megabyte version with USB2.0....

Basically, using the iBead is like using the iRiver iFP series without having to use thier crappy iFP Manager software. :)

seems like none of these flash based player out there is good enough...

the iRiver looks pretty good but you need to use their software.. and not sure whether it supports Mac..

the MuVo has no display, fail.

iBead seems to be the best amongst them but its not good looking.. :D

arg...
