Review in Edge is 7/10 - http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=8226

Edge can be extremely harsh on games though for what it's worth (in comparison to what other outlets score).

Take Back Squad trailer

This is golden. :p

7.9 From IGN AU

I'm not surprised it's scoring in the 7-8 mark. As I've said before they were only given a year and a half to turn round a sequel so I'm sure many features have been toned down or not fully realized.

Thanks EA.

Hopefully in Skate 3 they will have local splitscreen freeskate (even within limited bounds).

Would be awesome to skate together. I remember having lots of fun with THPS.

I only played the Skate demo hundreds of times. I'm kinda bummed out that they shortened the counter in Skate 2 to 5 minutes.

Oh well, Skate should be like $20 used now. :)

Skate 2 is sport entertainment as good as the first one, and in many aspects even better. Great graphics, awesome campaign mode and an interesting multiplayer are among its highlights. We were intrigued about how the franchise would evolve after its overwhelming first entry, and the final result has not disappointed us.

I should be getting OPM tomorrow,so I will scan the review from OPM like I did on the MotorStorm Pacific Rift thread. :)

I was a bit annoyed that the counter was only 5 to 8 minutes, but I have completed the demo a lot of times (I have played the demo more than some retail games atm) and a few days ago I pre-ordered the game. It'll be my first Skateboarding game since THPS3 on the PS1, and it's my first pre-order since TrackMania United. :)

after 6 mins of trying i finally got out of the gate. easiest way was too constantly hold back up against the gate, rather than wiggling around

Cool, I'll try that. I have tried several times to get outside, but only a few times I am successful, and I normally only end up with about 2 to 3 minutes on the clock.

IGN AU

IGN: "Skate 2 is not the sequel we wanted. It's still an excellent game in many respects, but as far as we're concerned Black Box has focused on the wrong areas for this sequel, which, given how close the team got to delivering exactly what skaters wanted with the first one (read the review here), is a big blow.

In a nutshell, instead of continuing to push the original's greatest strengths further ? realism, freedom and technical skating, the team has instead decided to add gimmicks over realism, to structure the game with all sorts of constraints, and to expand the non-technical aspects of the gameplay."

EA?s Skate 2 PS3 version ?runs like a dog,? says Aussie reviewew

Oh dear. Australian site Gameplayer?s Skate 2 review reckons the PS3 version has severe frame-rate issues and ?runs like a dog.?

From the piece:

There are some serious frame-rate concerns with the PS3 version of the game. We tested both the Xbox 360 and PS3 review code, even taking our rider in each version to the same spot in the world and switching the input on the TV back-and-forth to ensure it wasn?t some weird pre- and post-coffee phenomenon. But by comparison, the PS3 version runs like a dog. It is not a game breaker, but we did find ourselves missing landings and grinds simply on a part of the frame-rate screwing up our timing and no matter which way you look at it, that ain?t cool.

Skate 2 is released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on January 23.

    • Threads scales past half a billion users, brings deeper community and feed controls by Fiza Ali Meta has announced Threads crossing a major milestone of 500 million monthly active users. And, at the heart of this growth sits something simple: communities. From books to basketball, parenting to music, Threads says its rise has been powered by people clustering around shared interests and, in turn, giving the platform its identity. In response, the platform is expanding its Communities feature beyond beta and introducing a set of new tools designed to make participation easier and more engaging. A redesigned Communities Hub will now appear in the main navigation menu, allowing users to jump between groups without leaving their feed. Each community will also receive a distinct Community Icon, giving them clearer visual identity and making them easier to recognise across the platform. Then there’s Community Progress, which is a kind of live gauge showing how close a topic is to becoming a full-fledged community, alongside guidance on how users can contribute to its development. In addition, Meta is also expanding its Community Champions programme, recognising more users who actively contribute to community engagement. And then things go more local; Local Communities is already available in 100 countries, including North America, South America, Asia, and Europe but are now rolling out with native-language tags starting in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The platform is also expanding Live Chats to more communities in the coming weeks, adding features such as co-hosting and the ability to quote moments directly into users’ feeds. Beyond communities, Meta is tightening the loop between users and their feeds. Earlier this year came "Dear Algo," a feature that lets people tell Threads what they want more or less of. Now it’s being paired with a new tool, "Your Algo." It allows people to adjust how frequently certain topics appear, with options lasting one, three, or seven days. Meta says these preferences remain private and can be managed alongside “Dear Algo” in a unified settings hub. The rollout begins in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Finally, the company says these changes are part of an ongoing effort to refine Threads based on user feedback and that further updates will continue as the platform evolves.
