[Official] Skate 2 - released!

Recommended Posts

AJ, Larry and I will be playing quite a bit of Skate 2 online hopefully, others are free to join :)

Let's just say I'm not going to be playing just yet. I may not be buying this right away. As you and DL both know, I have a couple vehicular related incidents I have to clear up first monetarily...and then there's that whole new Blu Ray player thing... ;)

Got my copy of OPM today and they gave it 8 out of 10. Full review attached (With the crap games section too). :)

Their review doesn't put me off though, as I am still waiting for it, Hopefully Amazon will ship it to me before the release day so I have it on Thursday. :)

Maybe a mod could remove the 'Demo details added' from the thread name due to the game being out???

I got the game today been mucking around in it and betting on races and stuff..GREAT GAME!

Maybe we should all have that Neowin Session? Im going to be playing it in about 24hrs from now if anyone wants to get owned :)

Rawr! I love the new city.

But. So far. I've found some of the challenges to be... Out of whack with the rest of them. SKATE with the girl team is nigh ****ing impossible. and the 8m grind along the coping & MASSIVE hip transfer has had me stumped for over 2 hrs. While others I could nail in one go.

But so far, so good. :)

The only thing thats pretty sucky about the new city (albeit intentional) is all the stoppers on rails etc. I know it's part of the story and the rebuild of the city, but it's just annoying when you find a would-be-cool spot, and you can't pull them off cause of the stoppers :(

We want skate simulation without the crappy real-life limitations!

The walking controls are definitely borked too. You'd think they would add an animation which lets you climb up walls (unless they did?), but I went up to a short wall and tried to jump up and my guy somehow jumps like 4ft on the spot over it...wtf

I think spookies talking about skate1 (cant see skate2 on his tag :o)

I'm not connected to live that's why. I'm managed to nail all the pro challenges xpt 3. One because it's IMPOSSIBLE to air the gap, the girl one for flawless AI and one because I simply can't get high enough up the pipe.

All seem ridiculously hard considering they are smack bang at the start of the game. Did no one think: "this isn't going to appeal to new comers".

The Tail to Nose over a gap challenge closes a close "lol wtf morons" 4th.

To get more height you need to pump, but I'm sure you already knew that, just posting for others as well.

To pump you need to grab the board while going up the pipe and then push forward on the left stick.

I'll take a photo of what you have to do in a moment. Some of these are ****ing stupid imo.

edit:

You HAVE to land on the hip not an inch short or it doesn't count. It's worse than battletoads! :(

edit II:

HAHA only took me 2 hrs but I f-ing nailed it YAY! :D

Now I've just got to do the girl S.K.A.T.E. (- with the flawless AI) and I'm done with the pros. :)

You don't HAVE to do it to progress the game, but you have to do it if you want sponsorship from that team. There is a thrasher piece, on the other hand, that you have to do where you handplant on a basketball backboard which is another nightmare. Though to be fair looks amazing when you nail it.

I'm sure it does, I'll attempt it for sure. I love it so much. I keep bailing into cars lmfao, I fractured my skull from an awesome bail earlier, uploaded but not sure where to view it (or even if the site has gone live yet)...

Yay just got both covers. Thrashers Dam drop is: :D

Serious sense of speed when you're flying down it too. :)

I absolutely love making my own spots in this game, so much fun

You'll love the stacks, lots of hidden bank drops, lots of levels to gap off. :D

Picked up the game last night, after trade ins, a gift card I had, and including Killzone 2 on pre-order, it cost me $1.69 for all of that...

Barely got to play though, and so far I love the actual gameplay that is the same, and really wish they did something with the off the board walking, so so bad, but I guess it is a game about Skating...

I found myself way into bailing though, I was somewhere, I forget the name, maybe The Stacks, where it is a 55 foot drop down, and I just kept seeing how bad I could hurt myself and got caught up in that for over an Hour.

Amazing how one of the first tutorials was something I never knew how to do on the old one, pumping on a half pipe. Had no clue if you pressed RT that helped you get higher...

Looking forward to the online, I kept getting a disconnect error from EA Nation last night, but sounds like fun

    • I agree. I also think Phil stayed too long. They should definitely fire whoever thought all a console platform needed was Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to survive. Asha and crew are still saying they need more Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. They simply don't get it.

    • Mozilla highlights Firefox Nova 2026 redesign and more upcoming features with new roadmap by Sayan Sen Last month Mozilla confirmed that Firefox was set to get a major redesign this year. Dubbed "Project Nova", it can already be tested and will roll out to all users later this year. The idea is to keep the browser competitive in a rapidly evolving internet landscape. As such the revamp focuses on improving privacy, usability, performance, accessibility, and customization. Key privacy features including the built-in VPN, private browsing mode, and Enhanced Tracking Protection, will be more visible and easier to manage, while users will have the option to disable AI features entirely through a dedicated kill switch. Additionally, the redesign promises faster page loading, the return of Compact mode, expanded personalization options, and stronger accessibility support. You can find the full details in the dedicated piece linked above. In a new blog post today the company once again reiterated on Nova and also emphasized other new and upcoming features like the settings revamp that is intended to make it easier for users to understand browser settings. In order to make it simpler for users to keep up with such features Mozilla today is launching Firefox roadmap. Hence enthusiasts and interested users will be able to check out what's cooking and also share feedback about the upcoming additions. Alongside the roadmap announcement, Mozilla also highlighted what's new in Firefox 152. One of the biggest additions is the arrival of Tab Groups on Android. The feature, which has already been helping desktop users organize large numbers of tabs, is now beginning to roll out on mobile. Users will be able to group related tabs together, assign names and colors to them, and return to them later. Mozilla says support for iOS will arrive later this year. Firefox 152 also introduces the aforementioned redesigned Settings experience. The company says the changes are meant to make controls easier to find and help users discover features they may not have previously known about. Existing preferences are not changing, though they are now better organized. Another notable addition is the new Blocked Tracker Widget, which provides a visual overview of Firefox's privacy protections by showing how many trackers have been blocked over time and the types of tracking activity the browser has stopped. Looking ahead, Mozilla revealed several upcoming roadmap features. They include customizable keyboard shortcuts, as well as enhanced PDF editing tools that will allow documents to be split, merged, and reorganized directly within Firefox. The company is also working on bringing Multi-Account Containers into the native Firefox experience thus removing the need for a separate extension. Meanwhile Firefox's built-in VPN is set to expand to mobile devices. Mozilla is also developing AI-powered features like Quick Answers, which can provide concise responses to voice queries, and Smart Window, its optional AI browsing experience that is now available without a waitlist. Finally, a new Power Saving Mode is in the works and will help reduce the impact of resource-heavy tabs on mobile devices in order to extend battery life. The video below summarizes the upcoming changes in an easy to understand format: You can find the announcement blog post here on Mozilla's official website.
    • Dead on arrival at that price. Like they missed the mark by multiple hundreds of dollars - this should actually undercut the Macbook Air at $899 if they want any sort of sales / further adoption of WoA
