Sega shares Yakuza 3 PS3 hardware design

Recommended Posts

Sega shared today a first look at the special PlayStation 3 hardware bundle it's preparing for the February release of Ryu ga Gotoku 3.

As previously detailed back in December, Sega will release a PS3 hardware bundle pack for Ryu ga Gotoku 3 opposite the game's standalone release on February 26. Called the "Nobori Ryu Pack" (unofficially translates to "Rising Dragon Pack"), this bundle includes a copy of the game and a specially designed 80 gigabyte PS3 and will be priced at 45,980 yen. Production is limited to 10,000 units.

Both the packaging and system design for the bundle are themed around the game at hand. The packaging resembles the solo version's boxart, with a drawing of main character Kiryu Kazuma looking up to the sky while smoking a cigarette. The system, based off the ceramic white PS3, has dragon tattoo markings on its top.

As previously detailed, the bundle represents a savings of 1,980 yen over purchasing the PS3 and game separately.

Those who pre-order the hardware bundle will qualify for the Kamutai Magazine item that was previously announced as a pre-order bonus for the standard version.

Please god have english subs in the Asian version!

Yakuza 2 is awesome

THis is one hot design. Too bad I already got a PS3 and don't live in Japan.

P.S. : This would rocks more imho if the console was black and the dragons were white but it's just me. :)

...

@ Audioboxer: THe PS3 is has no region lock on its games right?

absolutely mate. There's no region lock on PS3 games, only DVDs and Blu-Rays are region locked.

the ps3 looks so much better white :)

Ultimate setup

But to be honest you can never tell what's a real white PS3 and what's a spray paint job (if it's done well) on google image search, as the US doesn't have a white PS3 yet... The above PS3 looks a little too "white", I think it could be sprayed.

Well this is a real one

Nice thing about the Yakuza 3 bundle though is the strip seems to be white as well. I don't think the silver chrome strip looks that great with white.

Too bad there will only be 10,000 of these :(

Well I guess that's quite a big number, but Yakuza is a fairly popular franchise, and so far this is the best looking PS3 mod (MGS4 gun metal wasn't that nice IMO).

Hopefully the attention this gets encourages people to actually try Yakuza :p Great series (only 1/2 have English translations so far, we're missing the first one released on PS3)!

Audio, where are you? This guy is asking about Yakuza!

<Inserts Audioboxer praise that sadly no one ever listens to, but should>

Yes, they're great games.

Adult Action-RPG games based on reality, which makes a change from fairies fighting elves, and emo-teenagers saving the world with their busty 14 year old sidekick(s).

Definitely play them. Play 1 before 2 though, 2 has a lot of improvements you'd miss going back to 1.

Or better still, if you're short on time, just play 2. It has an optional 40 mins or so of cutscene/story flashback at the beginning to clue you up on what happened in Yakuza 1.

Yakuza 3 gets PSN demo tomorrow, 38/40 in Famitsu

Famitsu’s gievn Sega open-worlder Yakuza 3 a 38/40 review score.

To celebrate, Sega will release a demo on the Japanese PSN tomorrow, which will weigh in at 1.22Gb.

Sega has already told us that there are no plans for Yakuza 3 hitting the West any time soon.

Other notable scores in this week’s mag include Halo Wars, which scored 32/40, and, of course, High School Musical Wii, which unfortunately was only awarded 27/40.

    • Payday TWO!! Is 13 years old man I feel old - I remember trying it out and if I did not know I would say 5-6 years ago or something
    • Payday 2 engine upgrade adds 64-bit and DX11 support, drastically shrinks install size by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Payday 2, the most popular entry in the heisting game franchise, is getting a surprising update after all these years. This is slated to be a complete engine upgrade that will enhance almost every aspect of the 13-year-old title, targeting performance, loading times, file size, rendering backend, and more. Developer Sidetrack Games is planning a beta to test out the new version ahead of the full public launch. The development team today revealed that the long-awaited upgrade to the 64-bit architecture is happening with this Diesel 3.0 engine update. By letting the game use more ram than 4GB, it is said to improve stability and compatibility on most hardware. It should also help modders in the long term with implementing larger changes too. "While many of the changes are made on the backend and not everything will be visible to you guys because it is a massive rewrite of the entire codebase, there will be a lot of things that you can look forward to," Sidetrack explained. Payday 2 will also hop over from DirectX 9 to 11. Instead of visual improvements, this is slated to reduce the amount of VRAM used by the title, letting more lower-end hardware access the title and run it better. Since these changes would require a complete redownload of the game anyway, Sidetrack says it has revamped "the game's packaging and bundling system." This should reduce the installation size from 86GB to 32GB. "So, now it's time to finally move the game to your SSDs," added the studio. The Payday 2 Diesel Engine 3.0 update is entering open beta on June 30 for Steam users. No console release plans were announced today. Sidetrack Games says it has been working on this complete rewrite of the codebase for the last nine months. While these changes should break most mods, the studio encouraged modders to use the beta period to repair their creations with support from the development team.
