How to identify pure gold?

Recommended Posts

I think one of the methods for identifying pure gold is to melting the gold. But what if the gold is just 23K even to 18K? And I have no idea how to identify pure platinum.

Going to gold/platinum graduate school is inconvenient for individual who just possesses a few gold or platinum.

Tell me your experience or any suggestion?

24k is the closest you get to pure gold and even then they add just a little bit of copper (i think its copper) because pure gold is so maleable that you can squeeze and change its shape with your hand

I once worked in a pawn shop, the actual gold test is a piece of smoked glass to rub the edge of the gold on then some sort of acid is used and a drop is put on the spot that was rubbed it if disappears then its fake if it stays its real . I think you can by this stuff at local hardware stores

ramesees:"you could use the old Archimedes trick and see how much water it displaces. Then use this volume along with its mass (weigh it) to find its density and then compare that with the expected density of gold and boom, you'll know if the gold is pure or not. "

JohnsonBox:"Here is a deceptive method to cheat the followers of Archimedes: (1) Specific gravity of pure gold is

19.32, lead is 11.35, and tungsten 19.3. (tungsten is cheap, see tungsten filament within a bulb); (2) since the specific gravity of tungsten is almost equal to the specific gravity of gold, so fakers can put some tungsten into pure gold, and making the thickness of gold bullion thick enough... (3) the followers of Archimedes would have to think the measuring error is acceptable because there is hardly definite pure gold."

JohnsonBox:"With some sort of acid? Vitriol or hydrochloric acid? And I suppose to calculate the

specific gravity of the gold is needed when the volume of the gold bullion has some lead inside and the thickness of gold is thick enough. But you didn't mention how to identify the difference between 24k and 23k gold."

DrunkenMaster:"I am an expert. Send all samples for me for testing. I must warn you, it takes a while to complete the testing. "

JohnsonBox:"Thanks mate. Since you are in Canada, I think it is more convenient to go to local metallurgy graduate school so that they would measure exactly the percentage of

gold content for me."

ImOnTheGoodFoot:"Like Quartz, Gold gets it's color from the impurities. Truely 100% pure gold is crystal clear. This can only be achieved (and has been) in scientific labratories. "

JohnsonBox:"What if a gold bullion 18k inside and 24k outside? How to recognize them when the thickness of outside pure gold is thick enough?"

hey! you told me you were the porn expert

(ps. when do i get mine back?)

I am a man of many talents but never said I was a porn expert (????).

I am however a metallurgist. It is a very technical trade and while I could describe to you how to identify gold, it is much easier instead to send me the entire piece for analysis. As I said before, I can not assure you of its quick return. Gold is often lost in the mail... those corrupt metallurgists ( *cough*) I mean postal workers.

As for one going to gold/platinum graduate school is very convenient for me for to melt the gold and therefore to classify the gold as a very purest form of gold or as a not so pure gold in a matter of fact. And therefore not the simplest thing for me to not classify the theoretical gold as possibly a pure form of platinum and therefore giving you the fortunate message that the possibly pure gold being a form of pure platinum. As for me being a graduate of the gold graduate school, I can easily classify your sample as being either a pure form of gold or even possibly simply a sample of simple platinum of whitch either is possible for me to give you a clear and unsurpassed classification of your sample as being either one of pure gold or possibly one of purely one of the platinum kind. Either way, the classification you would recieve would be of the very foremost professional kind, and as so it would be one that you would be able to present as a very true and precedented classification of the sample that you would be presenting before me. and as such, you can be sure that whatever the classification would evolve to be, it will surely be one of a very knowledged and professional kind. So as that, you would be very welcome to send your sample of the material in question to me for the classification in question. I can hereforth guarantee before you that the evaluation that you would recieve from me would be of the utmost and personally convenient kind as I am the posessor of several platinum and gold samples of the very excuisite kind, and therefore the classification you would be subject of would be of the utmost and henceforth exclusive kind, and the recievers of this evaluation would be at the highest degree of awe at the professionality of the evaluation given at this point. Being an individual that posesses a few platinum and gold and going to platinum graduate school, I can tell you my experiece of the gold and platinum and it is very many. Therefore I welcome your sending of the sample of the gold dash platinum sample for the telling of the quality of it. 'Till the cowscomehome, and as of that, I wonder, where is interesting?

On top of offering 10 games to jump into for Xbox players, all the titles are from a single publisher: No More Robots. The promotion has games like Little Rocket Lab, Spirittea, Descenders Next, Let's Build a Zoo, and much more. Almost every game in the selection does need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscription, so keep this in mind when browsing. Many of the titles are Xbox Play Anywhere titles though, so both Xbox console and PC players can jump in. Here's how the announcement blog post described some of the available titles: There is one game that's available to all Xbox players without the need for any subscriptions, which is Descenders. Here are the announced games and the platforms they are available to play on: Little Rocket Lab (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Spirittea (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Soccer Story (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Descenders Next (Game Preview) (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Let's Build a Zoo (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Hypnospace Outlaw (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Nowhere Prophet (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Family Man (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) Descenders (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) To easily find the titles on Xbox consoles, first head to the Store, then in the sidebar, find the Home section. In there, open the Subscriptions tab. The Free Play Days collection will show up in this area. This week's Free Play Days promotions will end on Sunday, June 7, at 11:59 pm PT.
    • It STILL has horrid theme support. Hard to look at for me. The white is too bright, and the black too dark. I'm using classic outlook for the Dark Grey theme. It's just right for me.
