Free Anti-Virus for Windows 7

I normally use Kaspersky on my home PC and Comodo Internet Security for PCs at work. However, Comodo won't work with Windows 7. So, can someone please recommend a free AV and Firewall that is compatible with Windows 7, but something lightweight and not full of bloat.

Who said Comodo Security does not work under Windows 7..?

Have you tried avast? not sure if it works with 7 but you could try installing the vista version.

Everytime I try to install it, it unpacks it and then mysteriously says "Rollback Complete" and then quits out! :huh:

Avast seems to working from what i've tried and seen and heard so give that a go it's quite good too.

Avast works great in Windows 7. Every build that I've tried... that includes the beta.

Forgot to mention that you have to run the Troubleshoot compatibility on the comodo "exe" file. If your not sure how to do it i will help you out.

Kaspersky has release a beta for Win 7, it's good for 90 days. It is an all in one, firewall ,a-v, anti-spam etc. It seemed to work pretty good on the x64 version. Unfortunately, I tried to install MagicISO and borked that install, it seems that if System Restore is turned off every app that trys to set a restore point crashes. Oh well, I dumped the x64 version and might try and install the x86 and see how that runs.

After installing Avast I constantly got blue-screened with a tdx.sys error. I removed Avast and it was fixed again...

I installed the beta test release of ESET Smart Security v4 on a computer running Windows 7 x64. It installed fine with one very minor annoyance: After installation, Windows Security Center reported it was out of date and the program said it was not, even though it was. The program was downloading an update in the background, though, and a couple of minutes later, it finished and the warning from Windows Security Center went away.

Officially, the three supported antivirus providers for the Windows 7 Beta (according to this: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/antivirus...windows-7.aspx) are AVG, Kapersky, and Norton. i can confirm comodo DOES NOT work in 7 beta at all. look it up online as comodo is working on a new build that will be compatible.
