phtc
Hi Guys Don't suppose anyone else had had any issues playing on COD WAW multiplayer over the last week? Whenever I try to play it lets me choose the game mode, i'm signed into PSN but it just keeps trying to connect to a game but never does. It doesn't even list any other players like it's trying to. The closest it's got is with me hosting a game and waiting for other players to join but they never do. I know this could be an ISP issue etc. but up until a week ago this was working fine and wondered if anyone else had this issue. Thanks Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/721930-cod-waw-multiplayer-issue-ps3/ Share on other sites
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 13, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2009 Added PS3 to the title so people knew you were talking about a specific title. Any off comments about the PSN that does not help are not welcome. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted January 13, 2009 Could very well be an issue with ports. A lot of online console lagging/connectivity issues are down to you essentially being hard to connect to. Make sure these ports are open TCP: 80, 443, 5223 UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658 Or better yet, give your PS3 a static IP, and forward that IP as a DMZ on your router and you'll never have an issue with anything (DMZ means all ports opened for that IP). First thing to do is check what NAT you are on your PS3 - You'll find that under XMB settings, network settings, then network info or something it's called. Right down the bottom of the list it will tell you your NAT type - If it's 2, you should be okay, if it's 3, you're not connectible. If you ain't clued up with a router, I'll help you in more detail. There is a good tutorial here showing you what you want your PS3 to say - http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=74303 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/721930-cod-waw-multiplayer-issue-ps3/#findComment-590417948 Share on other sites
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted January 13, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2009 Gavin is your answer to everything ports and DMZ  I don't think it's the problem if this has only happened in the last week, unless he has changed his connection settings. The amount of people I've seen (amongst friends and online) complain about lag/not being able to connect, or saying friends can't join them is related to being "non-connectible" to due a NAT3 on the PS3, or being NAT Strict I think it is on the 360. So much bashing of services at times and many people don't realize it's an "issue" at their end. Happens a lot with torrents on the PC also ;) It's more of a helpful answer to start with than "OMGZ FREE SERVICE = SLOW" or "IM SUING MS BECOZ LIVE IS SLOW/DOWN AND I PAY". Which I guess the good sir Larry was hinting at there  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/721930-cod-waw-multiplayer-issue-ps3/#findComment-590418042 Share on other sites
phtc
Thanks for the quick reply guys, much appreciated. I'm ok with router settings so will delve into them tomorrow after work and post back. I've just checked my NAT and it's set to 2 which should be ok. And as i said previously, i've not made any changes to the network and up until around a week ago I was playing online with no issues at all, connecting to servers quickly etc. which is why I was thinking it was my ISP (if no one else is having the same issue). Not tried it yet either but i'll try COD4 online or some other games see how I fair with that and will post back tomorrow.
