Analogue Caps

They should bring back the classic controller. It would fix the main 2 gripes people have with the DS3 (L2/R2 triggers and the analogue stick thumb grips).

Totally agree :) not sure why they changed the design pushing the grips out tbh :(

Though I have yet to take the trigger accessories off since getting them.

I bought the Giotek real triggers too. I can't say I found them that useful though. I find to use them I have to alter the position of my hand on the controller. I find it better without them.

The analogue sticks are okay too, I just noticed my fingers slipping a bit when playing Mirrors Edge the other night because of the amount of time I needed to hold forward to run in long bursts. Awesome game by the way!

I have some analog caps. I got the ones from Play. I was using the concave ones for a while when I first got them, but since I bought SSF2THDR I've been using the grip ones. They are good, even if you only want them to cover the actual stick grip to protect it (which is why I got them).

If they ever get them back in though, get the set from Amazon just to have more options.

My caps arrived the other day so here goes. First things first, lots of pictures:

Gratuitous shot of 360 style caps with real triggers for those interested. :p

First impressions were that they look great. Each cap is made of a very thin dark black stretchy rubber. The fact that they're so thin means they don't add any unnecessary extra height (shown in the profile shots), even the concave Xbox 360 style ones. They are quite tricky to get on, but once they're on there is no chance of them slipping off as they slip snugly on top of the DS3's analogue sticks.

The convex caps with the bumps feel unusual at first on the thumbs but add a little bit of extra grip when pushing the analogue sticks as far as possible because they prevent your slippage. I played a few rounds of COD4 online with them and they felt natural and comfortable to use.

The concave Xbox 360 style caps were a tiny bit more difficult to put on, but also sit tightly. They have a thick pad of rubber on the inside of them which creates the concave shape over the top of the DS3's analogue sticks. The ruts aren't incredibly deep, but more than enough for your thumbs to rest inside them. The rubber on these is a bit slippy and when I was playing COD4 I noticed on several occasions my thumbs slowly began to slip out of the ruts. I think if you're the kind of person who gets sweaty thumbs then these aren't the caps for you! I think this pair would definitely need some wear to make the rubber more grippy.

For ?2.50 they are decent and do add a different feel to the standard analogue sticks. I think with some wear on the rubber the concave caps would be nice for those more accustomed to the Xbox 360 controller. The convex bumpy caps are very comfortable once you become used to the feeling of them.

I know there's a site that delivers from the US to wherever you are, it's like a forwarding service. You just get your product delivered to them and they send to you internationally. Maybe you could use that? Although for a ?2.50 item I'm not sure it'd be worth it.

I second everything ziodoz has said completely about the caps. I currently use the convex caps.
