'Machete' (2010)

Although we can't confirm the news, it is nice to hear rumblings around town. We're being told that Weinstein Co. has serious plans on shooting Robert Rodriguez's highly anticipated Machete later this year. Starring Danny Trejo, Machete was introduced to us as a faux trailer in Dimension Films' GRINDHOUSE, which bombed at the box office back in April of '07. In the trailer it was revealed that after being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale (Trejo) launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss. No word on if this would go theatrical or direct-to-DVD.

I can't wait for this! and for those who forgot the trailer!

Yeah NSFW forgot to mention that...thought the word Grindhouse would of explained that :p

Robert Rodriguez is finally getting around to direct a feature film adaptation of the infamous Grindhouse faux movie trailer Machete, with he will co-direct with his longtime editor Ethan Maniquis. Last we heard, production was scheduled to begin before the end of July. BloodyDisgusting obviously has spies in the Rodriguez camp as they?ve broken a bunch of stories on the Rodriguez-produced Predators, and now has a crazy list of actors/actresses who will be featured in the film.

The biggest shocker is Rober De Niro, who has apparently taken the role of Senator McLaughlin. Rodriguez has ties to Tarantino, who definitely has ties to De Niro, so its not impossible. Other cast includes Danny Trejo (obviously), Michelle Rodriguez of Fast and the Furious and Lost fame who will be playing Luz, and Jonah Hill of Superbad fame, who will be playing Julio.

Robert Rodriguez is putting together one of the most eclectic and oddly matched casts ever for his Machete movie. He?s already got Danny Trejo while Robert De Niro

, Jonah Hill, and Michelle Rodriguez are rumored to be involved. You might think it can?t get more mismatched than that, but Robert has other ideas so he put a call in to Steven Seagal.

Moviehole reports that Seagal is considering taking a part in the movie. The words his reps used it depends on ?conditions?, which could mean salary, weight loss, or Steven?s busy schedule. Ok let?s face it, it?s probably not Steven?s busy schedule. I?m going to check off the box marked weight loss.

Who would Seagal play? We don?t know.

While talking to MTV recently, Robert Rodriguez spoke about his upcoming full-length version of the Grindhouse fake trailer, Machete. Although he understandably didn?t give that much away, he did speak about the casting for the film where he revealed two things: the previously rumored Michelle Rodriguez is definitely is in the film, and Lindsay Lohan (yes, that Lindsay Lohan) has a role in the film if she wants it.

Michelle Rodriguez was rumored for Machete along with Robert De Niro, Jonah Hill and Steven Seagal and it?s not surprising to find her rumor turning out true. As I said in my post last week, her name was the one that made the most sense out of those four (or at least, didn?t incite a ?WTF? response as the rest do). Robert Rodriguez has let us know that Michelle and Danny Trejo are the only two confirmed, and he sadly didn?t address the rumors of De Niro, Hill or Seagal.

A little extra piece of Machete casting rumor popped up online shortly after the other four names were being thrown, that stated Lindsay Lohan was ?in talks? for an unnamed role. Rodriguez has now said himself that there?s, ?a cool part for her if she wants it.?

Rodriguez revealed that Machete will start shooting in a couple of weeks, although he said he can?t say much more about it. The director also said they?re in the casting stage right now, and that, ?the script just came out great.?

It?s hard to say too much against (or for - let?s not diss her for the sake of it?) Lohan possibly being cast in Machete when we don?t know what the role will be, and more importantly how big that role will be.

I will be gentle and say that Lohan isn?t he greatest actress in the world but who knows, the B-movie homage that Machete is might lend itself very well to that. I think it?d be wise for Lohan to at least consider the role, as her career isn?t doing too well at the moment.

Apparently Lohan turned down a role in the all-time highest grossing R-rated comedy, The Hangover. I bet she?s slapping her forehead over that one?

I don't know who Jonah Hill is and I wish I didn't know who Lindsey Lohan was either, but the rest of the cast makes them a non-issue for me.

The trailer was one of the best parts of Planet Terror (I liked it more than some of my friends, but they mostly all talked up the Machete trailer) so it's great to see it finally happening as a full movie.

Sony Pictures Acquires 'Machete' for International Distribution

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has acquired most international distribution rights for Robert Rodriguez's Machete, unfortunately that doesn't do much for us here in the States. Machete is the feature-length version of the trailer that originally appeared in Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse. The pic is in production in Austin, Texas, with a cast that includes Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Cheech Marin, Michelle Rodriguez and Rose McGowan. Its story centers on a former Mexican police officer who turns the tables on the masterminds who double-crossed him. Rodriguez, who wrote the screenplay, co-directs with Ethan Maniquis. Sony worked with Rodriguez on the so-called Mexico Trilogy -- El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.
