My guess is that ABC made a choice between V and FlashForward. They chose V.

which is shocking seeing as FF is a better show but that's subject to opinion I suppose.

it won't make me go back to the show though

Edited by Rappy

In the wings for midseason: "Off the Map" and comedies "Mr. Sunshine" starring Matthew Perry and "Happy Endings," as well as recently renewed returning drama "V."

While acknowledging waiting a long time to bring back a heavily serialized show like "V" is always a concern, Patmore-Gibbs said the alien invasion drama could return in November. ABC is considering having "V" take over the "Dancing With the Stars" results show slot on Tuesday nights once the reality show airs its fall finale, which will give "V" a genre-appropriate lead-in from superhero drama "No Ordinary Family." The network also wanted to ensure that the special-effects-filled "V" had enough production time before its premiere date.

which means it might return November.

So they're aware of the special effects - does that mean they'll try and make them a bit more realistic next season?

The only time they look terrible is when they're white. The hologramish ones, the ships, they look fine. They need to drop the white crap.

The episode tonight was very good. Chopping down the cast for next season though. Next season will be a lot more action oriented, I think.

I guess I am one of the few that are liking this. :p

The effects aren't a big deal. It's just a TV show.

The thing that gets me is how elaborate they try to make the special effects, which just makes it look silly. I'm sure they've wasted a big portion of their budget on the effects, which look rather bad to be honest. Shows like "FlashForward" and "Fringe" are way more subtle with their effects. I understand that this is a little different given the nature of the shows, but still. Even when it comes to the costumes and sets, "V" needs massive improvement.

The acting isn't great, the storyline is rather weak, the villains are one-dimensional, the effects aren't good... there's just so much that needs fixing.

Good show, surprised to see some people complaining in this thread, I suppose some people are never happy and will point out every little detail to nitpick at. It's nice to see it got renewed especially with the ending of the finale that left me wondering what is to happen next. As for who's complaining about special effect, remember this is a television series and they don't have the big budgets that movie studios have to produce state of the art effects. Please define what you think constitutes bad acting, so far most of the acting has been well done and I haven't seen much of anything that is suggestive of bad acting.

my understanding is marcus wants the research so he can destroy it and keep people from using it against the v's and hobbs who is a scumbag terrorist doesn't really care about selling 5th column oit.

I think there is a chance he'll give him wrong info or also sell the info to someone else.

Sets and costumes? Really?

Show me a 'bad' costume.

I think some people mistake the purposeful woodenness of the Vs for bad acting.

The ambassador uniforms (And V uniforms) look like a cheap imitation of Star Trek's old uniforms. The "lizard" alien costumes -- in the brief instances we've seen them -- look like crap. And those are the two main "costumes" in the series, so I'd say that's a pretty big deal.

@ Xtreme2damax: The FBI agent (name escapes me at the moment, Olivia maybe?) and her son are atrocious actors, and they're the main characters, I'd say. The son is absolutely horrible in expressing how a teenager truly feels -- it's like he's never experienced teenage hormones before in his life. His mother lacks subtlety in anything she does, from dialogue to facial expressions to body language, just like the actor who plays Mark in FlashForward. She's cardboard, to say the least.

And I never said the effects had to be on-par with a movie. I never even remotely hinted that. I said they need to be on-part with other network television shows, not some crappy Syfy channel B-movie. They need to stop relying on computer generation for absolutely everything and start making props for some of this stuff, as I'm sure it'd be a much better use of their budget.

Still whatever anyone's views the show is still a good time waster for when there is nothing else to watch or do, my Tuesday's are pretty boring so I'm glad there is at least something on the grabs my interest. I do think some things should have been a bit better, but the show is fairly good despite and minor flaws it may have. I'd rather see this, than crap such as Dancing with the stars, garbage generic comedies with laugh tracks, more nurse interns getting it on with other nurse interns, other reality crap shows.. ;)

@Aye, Ok there may be some flaws but it's not so bad that it ruins the show. The FBI agent's acting isn't all that bad, she just needs to be cautious as to not hint that she's working against the V's which may give off the impression of bad acting. Her son on the other hand I've never really cared for and would have to agree. He still plays a part in the story though, so it wouldn't make sense to get rid of him.

Ok then, what would be a 'good' uniform?

Emily? Olivia is FF. She was always great on Lost, and she's just fine on V.

Again, besides the 'white' items they show, and some of the lizard stuff (the baby's tail was pretty junk) a lot of the effects are just fine.

I forgot to also point out the obvious plot hole as well. Why doesn't the ship have microphones throughout it recording what people say? Every utopia I've ever seen in films, tv and games has this sort of mechanism. If these aliens can travel to planets and know they have a threat called the Fifth Column, why have they never implemented such a simple technology?

Or cameras. I thought of that too when Emily was sneaking around. Especially since they have tiny cameras in all the ambassador uniforms.

I totally agree with you.

Joshua NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

On second thought HE'S REVIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh Marcus is a 5th Column?

That is what I was asking last night. Not sure if he revived because he is 5th column or because he want to get info from him. Pretty good episode last night.

Man im so sad i have to wait to see where this goes. This last episode rocked. I havent gotten so into a tvshow since..Babylon 5. I love the whole show, it has a few corny moments here n there but overall i think its very well done and the story is amazing thus far.

Im really curious what all the clouds n stuff that are a result of anna 'starting the reaction' are about. It could also mean that since she broke away from her plan, that she has a weakness. Now that shes had emotion i wonder if shes going to start making more mistakes.

I also thought it was cool that Lisa got called my queen, and that she got to have the evil little smile for a change.

The shows very dynamic i love it

    • So how did you solve the problem? Disabling Secure Boot isn’t a solution.
    • Another devilish issue surrounding these certificates is what can happen with old, unsuspecting PCs that nevertheless have Secure Boot enabled. In my case, it was a Dell with a 3rd-gen Core chip (so about 13 years old). As of the last few weeks, it was suddenly BSOD'g within about 5 minutes of booting. Turns out it was because of MS's "Secure-Boot-Update" scheduled task, which is scheduled to run 5 minutes after login. It's explained in gory detail here (this is not my post, but it was where I found the answer), but the short version is that this legacy system would need fairly elaborate, manual certificate intervention since MS's automatic cert update method cannot work. How to do that is linked late in the thread. https://www.bleepingcomputer.c...od-caused-by-scheduled-task Secure Boot wasn't at all important for this particular PC, so I disabled it to be done with the problem.

App-local UI zoom — press Ctrl +/-/0 or use Ctrl+MouseWheel to scale the whole app, just like a browser. New External Apps: EA app, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, Rockstar Games Launcher, PowerShell, and Helium Browser. Bug Fixes Layouts no longer clip when the Windows text size slider is set above 100%. Accessibility: Narrator now announces setting names on toggles and dropdowns, previously unlabeled buttons are labeled, and progress updates are announced. Silent updates now respect your custom install location instead of reverting to the default. Cancel in Review Mode no longer clears your app selections. OneNote is now detected correctly for Win32 Click-to-Run installs. Clean Start Menu applies more reliably by also writing the group policy path. WinGet errors are no longer silent — error details now show in the terminal output. Fixed a startup crash on older Windows builds caused by a .NET runtime regression. Config import now converts power setting values correctly and no longer re-applies an already-active power plan. Improvements App icons load noticeably faster and cover almost everything now, including legacy capabilities and optional features — they come from a dedicated, checksum-validated icon repository and are fetched in parallel. Software & Apps polish: per-icon tooltips, extra table columns, an app sort dropdown, relocated search, and a cleaner compact view. A warning now appears when the Connected Devices Platform Service is set to Manual or Disabled, since some Windows features depend on it. • Of course the problem was Secure Boot's new certificates. Install media created by the official Media Creation Tool is already signed with a valid certificate from Microsoft, so maybe that certificate isn't "up-to-date" enough for machines with the new ones installed in the UEFI. There's really no other logical explanation.
