hopp58902 Member Posted January 29, 2009 Member Share Posted January 29, 2009 Shiftlinux.net has been a place for outsiders (from Neowin's community) to learn about Shift Linux, and, let's face it, it is truly and completely out of date. I've started updating the content a little, is there anything you guys would suggest adding or removing or changing? LTSmash
Well, yes, you should change the contests to tell people we're actually working on a new version from scratch (i mean, from Arch!) and errase the old versions since noone seems to be using that... Also, the wiki should be started from zero. markwolfe Veteran Posted January 31, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 31, 2009 I would like to see links to sites that have the often-used closed-source apps that Linuxers would want. Things like Skype and such. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/728628-announcement-revival-of-shiftlinuxnet/#findComment-590506082 Share on other sites

hopp58902 Member Posted January 31, 2009 Author Member Share Posted January 31, 2009 We'll put Skype into the Shift repo now that you mention it. pacman -S skype anyone? Thanks LTSmash. As for how to get into the group - once the ISO of the preview is out, we'll need a list of bugs and the best way to be a part of Shift is to add to it. If you can fix some of the bugs and know your way around an Arch box (I think you do), we'll consider it. Of course, I'm not the one who decides who's in and who's not, but I'll forward it to the appropriate place. Lechio
Put up the tutorials in the website too, once you have time of course. :) That would sure help people who wish to contribute with themes and such Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/728628-announcement-revival-of-shiftlinuxnet/#findComment-590506634 Share on other sites

I guess there's no need to move. but then again, I believe I do not yet undertand what you plan to do with the repos. And yeah, I know my way on Arch (2+ years using it :p) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/728628-announcement-revival-of-shiftlinuxnet/#findComment-590508852 Share on other sites
hopp58902 Member Posted February 1, 2009 Author Member Share Posted February 1, 2009 Ah, didn't see Skype there - you're right LTSmash. The repos will have packages not in default repos, built using makepkg either from AUR or our own applications. Themes, icon packs, and other goodies will be in there too.
