redvamp128
I have it installed in my ubuntu as an alternative window manager- it seems lightweight and fast. Even seems faster than XFCE (though not quite as fast as a FluxBox release). ? http://lxde.org/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/728630-any-plans-for-a-lxde-shift-version/ Share on other sites
hopp58902 Member Posted January 29, 2009 Member Share Posted January 29, 2009 LXDE rocks, with some little quirks. You'll be able to *easily* install it on Shift Linux. redvamp128
Only issue I have with it on my Ubuntu is the sound configuration-- Other than that-- mainly I use it when I have to compile and want a quick fast GUI. hopp58902 Member Posted January 30, 2009 Member Share Posted January 30, 2009 What is your sound card. lspci or lsusb will find out. We can see if Shift will have support and if not, maybe we can put it in. markwolfe Veteran Posted January 30, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2009 <petpeeve> LDXE is precious little more than OpenBox. It has openbox as the window manager, and "includes" a text editor app and an image viewer. And they try to call this a "desktop environment" when it is just a simple (but nice) window manager and a couple of included apps. So, when people ask for "LXDE", they really want openbox and some apps to edit text and view images. But I guess saying "lxde" is all the rage these days. </petpeeve> Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/728630-any-plans-for-a-lxde-shift-version/#findComment-590503260 Share on other sites
