Internet Explorer URL Bar Search Problem

Question

I use the custom search prefixes feature in TweakUI to create my own search shortcuts. For example, if I type "g something to search for" it will do a google search with the string following g. However, all of a sudden today whenever I type anything into the address bar of internet explorer (except for URLs) it goes to http://www.commonname.com/en/PowerSearch/P...PowerSearch.asp and searches for whatever I typed in. This also happens if I try to search for something using IE's built in search feature (just type in a string into the address bar). I've tried resetting the customized search settings in IE but it has no effect. Has anyone ever heard of this? I have no idea how the commonname.com thing came in effect, I'm assuming it somehow smuggled itself onto my computer with some software I installed. I have tried searching the registry for commonname.com and have tried searching for spyware/adware and cleaning everything up, but nothing seems to have any effect. Please help me out, I really miss my little search prefixes. Thanks in advance...

Ok, after some research I found this page: http://217.115.153.73/parasite/CommonName.html. It explains how this stupid spyware software was on my system and how to get rid of it. Quite a process to go through manually. Anyways, hopefully this will help someone if they run into the same problem that I had.
