WI FI my 98se

Recommended Posts

I have an old rebuilt solid installation of 98se which I am trying to set up on my wireless network at home.

I have installed and apparently functioning 54Mbps Wireless-G 802.11pci adapter with speed booster.

I have removed the dial up modem card and disabled the LAN line in BIOS so there's is no conflict.

I had to call AT&T tech support to get the wireless modem to recognize the signal from the PC.

This worked and I had a signal 99% but when opening Opera "Error" cannot find remote server.

Same thing trying Mozilla T-Bird and Windows IE.

I believe my connections are set up correctly.

When I was on the phone with the at&t techie he was able to get the link to work (Steady Green Light on the modem Wireless) twice then when he put me on hold it disconnected.

The next tier techie said I would have to upgrade to 2000 or better or pay for additional support.

I'm running 384RAM Pentium 2 and 10G hard drive with nothing really on it Defragged and clean as a whistle on a Compac Presario 5170.

PLEASE HELP ME

Edit: Did not read the full post, they are correct we only support 2000 and up, we still get people calling in with 95 all the time
