Samuel L. Jackson Signs Nine Picture Deal with Marvel

Recommended Posts

Samuel L. Jackson is Marvel's man.

The actor, who just weeks ago was seemingly on the outs with the studio over reprising his role as Nick Fury, agent of spy outfit S.H.I.E.L.D., has signed an unprecedented nine-picture deal to play the character in a series of Marvel movies.

The movies include "Iron Man 2," "Thor," "Captain America," "The Avengers" and its sequels.

Also on the table is the possibility of toplining a "S.H.I.E.L.D." movie, which is in development.

The actor, repped by ICM and Anonymous Content, made a surprise appearance as Fury at the end of the first "Iron Man," throwing geeks into a tizzy and showing the first glimpse of Marvel's plan to link all their slate of movies into one filmic universe.

Jackson and Fury were expected to be part of the sequel, but as Marvel negotiated with its cast, deals proved hard to come by. Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle. Mickey Rourke still doesn't have a deal for the part of a villain despite almost two months of negotiations.

By the time all the scripts are written, actors are found, cities are scouted, and the movies are ready to go, he'll be 80. Or all this super hero hype will have died down completely.

It's like signing a football player for 15 years 'cause he had one awesome season, then you get bored and try and trade him 3 years later. Hype now, woops later.

I really don't like him as an actor, he always comes off as playing the same character in every movie: himself.

Agree, even in the Star Was prequels, he was probably one of the worse performances. And it is not like those films had any award winning performances to begin with hehe. I just could never get into his character at all. He was not believable as a Jedi at all, it wouldn't have surprised me if when he came to arrest Palpatine he would have said "You're under arrest MOTHER****ER", like you said, he always seem to be the same character.

But he is a likable character usually. Much like Morgan Freeman who can do the same movies over and over yet you enjoy watching him.

although you will never see Freeman and Jackson in the same movie... yet. Then that would be badass!

but that's what we like lol...i can't tell you how much I hoped he would have said that in Revenge of the Sith from pg-13 to rated R just because of one line lol.

He does end up being pretty much the same in every movie but watchable, problem these days is his movies are rubbish a lot of the time.

I'm still a bit annoyed how Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard. No need, he worked well in the first Iron Man.

Good for him I guess. But we need more great black actors like him. He's like in every movie with a black lead or supporting actor.

He was good in A Time To Kill.

Also Jackie Brown, Die Hard: With a Vengeance , Pulp Fiction, One Eight Seven and The Negotiator. Such awesome movies. He might be loosing his touch though.

    • No. Windows 8 had little to no spywhare, is actually faster than 7 but it has the dreaded start screen, nothing that you could not fix with start8. Windows ME crashed often, but was shotlived and replaced by XP, which is a much better windows in itself.
    • Windows 8 was uninspiring but it was fine / worked. It was just overshadowed by how great Windows 7 was. Windows ME seem to be just unstable for most people - I was using Windows 2000, which was far superior. The two best versions are Windows 7 and 2000
    • I don't think ME was that bad. The stability issues were mostly caused by drivers. This was when the switch from vxd to wdm was happening. The other complaint was not being able to shut down into DOS anymore which was silly with XP right around the corner.
    • As much as I hated Windows 8, although I never used it personally on any of my own machines, I think Windows Me was hands down the worst OS from MS. I have Windows 11 on 2 unsupported machines and haven't had any issues and I actually kind of like it. Still hate how slow Windows updates are though.
    • Why do you think they whol industry would be done? Agree a lot has shifted around the launch with devs moving their dates to avoid the timeframe around the launch. But if this fails, it'll be talked about, analysed, Rockstar will likely be ridiculed but people will move on. Others devs might be more cautious about these large games but I don't think one game will change the entire industry
