I?ve been playing about with this emulating Wipeout Fusion, the game is playable at anywhere from 90% speed to 50% speed.

What graphics settings are you guys using? The emulator just seems to be rendering the games in 512x448 for me then stretching it to whatever window size I specify.

My Specs:

Vista Ultimate x64

Core2Duo E4500 @ 2.93ghz

4gb Ram

Geforce 8800GT 256MB

Anyone want to swap settings? Screenshots of mine below.

@Insane Nutter

I think your computer spec are decent for pcsx2, although I never tried wipe out on it.

You'll get better help on the official pcsx2 forum I think.

However here are few thing to boost speed (but that might break games):

* under speed hacks use EE sync hack x2 , or 3x if there's no problem.

* under avanced option , you can enable the "flush to zero" settings that are not enabled by default.

* you can lower the resolution by checking the native checkbox. (same resolution as ps2)

* you can enable frame skip (often leads to problems).

* use an iso , this work better than accessing directly to you ps2 disk

* changing sound plugin ? try peops or the more recent spu-x.

If you are using directx10, you can press alt+enter to switch to full screen with pcsx2.

Figured I'd post a screenie of how nice DC looks. It doesn't play PERFECTLY, but it's definitely good enough to play it (especially in dungeons as those play perfectly). It's just the towns that lag slightly. But that's probably down to the fact I'm running a quad at low clocks, rather than dual at super high.

I just bought Aggressive Inline for my PS2, I tested it out and get about 60 FPS constantly in Pcsx2, Twisted Metal Black varies between 40 - 60 FPS on some levels. Silent Hill 2, 60 FPS constantly..

I tried my brothers Smackdown games: Just Bring it, SD vs. Raw and either Shut Your Mouth or HCTP (One of the last two game crashes the emulator I believe), They run at between 40/45 - 60 FPS..

My specifications are a Core2Duo E8500, 4 GB of DDR2 800 Ram, Geforce 9800 GT...

Btw off topic a bit, Dolphin has made quite a bit of progress as of late as well. Unlike Pcsx2, it doesn't require a bios or anything else to run.. :)

Trying this again now that I have my 9800GTX+.

Using the latest beta, 791, and using DX10 mode.

Damn it's working awesomely, tried Dark Cloud 2 and Persona 4 and im getting 60FPS. Just got my Xbox 360 controller for Windows from Amazon today also (Y) Use the Xpad plugin and the controller configures itself as well as rumble.

Sweeeet :D

Core 2 Duo at 2.2ghz

How well would run on my machine?

I'd like to know that too.

Still got quite a lot of PS2 games I'd like to play, but my PS2 is kind of dead (Disc Read Error). I have fixed it before, but its gone again now, and I don't really fancy spending money to fix it / get a new one.

Does anyone know if Twisted Metal Black and the Metal Gear Solid and God of War games run OK on this thing? It looks awesome, but I don't wanna waste time if it's got issues, especially if people don't report them.

Checking their compatibility list on their site, it says GoW is playable from beginning to end. I just want to actually talk to somebody first who has down that before I dive into this (again).

It would run, but not very greatly. 2.2ghz is rather low considering how much cpu power emulating the ps2 demands. You'll likely need to overclock that thing or get a faster cpu to possibly get 60 fps in any compatible games(and even then you might not get 60 in some). You could always try playing below 60 fps though.

As Blackhearted said, not well. PCSX2 generally recommends at least a Core 2 Duo clocked to about 3.0ghz (or above) as it is very CPU intensive. Obviously you can't overclock that much, especially considering because you are on a laptop. With the time it takes to setup the program, I wouldn't bother (but that's just me).

If by "not optimized enough" you mean "not playable on extremely low-end hardware or gear from 4 years ago" then you'll probably never bother.

Summer 2008 Laptop Actually. Setup similar to bauhaus's notebook, except 2.4Ghz CPU. Makes it ahead of the PS2 by ~9 years.
