Is it Possible? Emule and no uploading?

Question

Hey guys,

I use emule, and my pc isn't that great and when I upload it slows me pc down a lot. I was wondering if there was a way to stop it and allow downloading at like 20KB? or like disable it in rege like kazaa. Or something that like tricks it, so it thinks your uploading?

Disabling upload is gay, you expect people to share with you, but you don't want to share back....

The only way files will get shared well (and you will get a chance to dl them) is if other people share... think about it,

if everyone stopped sharing, you wouldn't get anything

Finally.... emule r0x :?)

And you guys are made cuz i dun share, i have a made connect and it slows my pc to hell, i have a reason not to share, if i had a fast connect and a good pc at least a p3 id upload but mines terrible

the only way would be too find a moded version of the program

i have tried to limit my uploads using a bandwith controller, but emule notices and slows my downloads down

i'd advice you not to use emule as its well sucky, switch to bittorent or irc :)

look for different versions of emule thats all i can say

there is absolutly no excuse to use leech mods.

your puter slows down when you upload? i say you are 100% god dammed lair!

total dowload=total upload. if everybody would be like you and don't upload, nobody would download either.

instead of looking for excuses not to upload why don't you fix your computer!

offical version and many mods have features that reduce cpu load.

everybody is equal. everybody must follow same rules or ######(you seem to be one of them) will kill that network.

Allright thats just being a straight out ######

I agree, downloads=uploads both slow pc down, but both at same time slow it down even more. My pc is a 566MHZ 256SD Ram, and a 32 Bit card, fix it you say? give me money and I will buy a new one, im not rich maybe you are, but if you have ass comment next time keep them to yourself christ. You seem to be an ###### thats ruining neowin.

he probably isnt talking about the actual SYSTEM slowing down, but more that maybe that internet pages dont load as quickly because he is using all his bandwidth to upload, but i have never heard of it to slow down your pc. i know that emule and mods for emule have memory leaks (at least for me they do) and that could cause it to slow down AFTER A WHILE (like 2-5 hours later) but i havent heard of anything else.

my net upload is capped at 16 k/bytes sec, so if i set my upload/download ratio to 0/0, then i can barely surf the web or play cs, but what i have done is set my upload to 8 and my download is (i think) 32, and that is enough for me.

lol, i can tell you how u can fix the problem so you dont upload, but im not going to, i dont do it (and i know how to) and neither should anyone else. like everyone said earlier, if you dont share, how the hell is anyone gonna download?

my advise to you is, if emule is slowing you down, then use something else, kazaa, irc, etc..

exactly as everyone else is saying. it is not justified when all you want to do is leech/download off other people while others can't download from you. think about it... it's like this: there are a bunch of rich people, and you are poor. you expect them to just continually give you money out of charity... I don't think so buddy. you only get what you work for. so likewise, if you are not about to contribute back to the commnuity, why the hell would they want you?

566mhz is more than enough to handle emule.

if your computer is slowing down during transfers i said FIX YOUR COMPUTER, not upgrade it. big difference.

like i said before, offical client and some mods have features to reduce cpu usage...but it seems like you don't care anymore so oh well.

if i have "ass comment" next time i'll also post it to make sure you know it.

and by the looks of it, my ass comment is not so ass :p

    • Nice! My $100 refurbished iPad 8 that I bought last year for a small project (and still runs like new cuz it's been mostly in storage the past several months) will get this v26 upgrade. I'm definitely gonna scope out OS26 on this device before upgrading my also-supported refurbished iPhone SE 3rd Gen (only got it for the 5G UW support).

    • Hello, I am guessing this is the result of using a third-party tweaking tool instead of changing things within Windows settings. Windows 11 has a decent set of configuration options for the display, but they tend to be scattered throughout the operating system due to fragmentation of product ownership/inconsistent standards being applied by Microsoft. There are a few places in Windows 11 where you can modify the various display settings in order to get them to your liking: Under Settings → System → Display you can stroll down to the Scale & layout section and change the Scale and Display resolution settings to whatever you prefer.  For the Scale option, you can click on the text box to choose between the various pre-populated settings.  If none of those are exactly what you are looking for, click on the caret ("") caret to open the Custom scaling setting (also available under Settings → Display → Custom scaling).  I would recommend this as an option of last resort as this can cause display issues in various programs. I strongly recommend using the screen's native Display resolution here; it should show up as the "(Recommended)" resolution.  If it does not, you may need to install your monitor's profile information file (basically, a device driver for your monitor) to get the correct setting. Another place to look at making changes to fonts is under Accessiblity → Text size.  There is a slider bar for changing the text size from 100% to 225% there. You can try making changes to the ClearType settings.  It's a little bit finer-grained than the others, but it may make the text easier to view on the display.  Run the ClearType Text Tuner (filename: CTTUNE.EXE) and go through the wizard. You may want to do this several times under different lighting conditions or times of the day to figure out what works best for you overall. Lastly, you may want to look into using a dedicated assistive screen technology program from a third-party.  Microsoft provides a Screen Magnifier and a Narrator for text-to-speech, but they provide only basic functionality, and you may find that a third-party program works a lot better.  The pros of this is that third-party assistive technology programs tend to work quite well under Windows; Microsoft has historically worked closely with third-party developers of assistive technologies.  The cons of this are that such tools tend to be on the expensive side, since they are often sold to schools, businesses, or paid for by insurance companies, not individuals. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Totally agree with you. I think people, especially on tech sites, need to realize that they’re the minority. Microsoft isn’t going to waste time on things that, in the big picture, don’t matter to the majority.
