Sorry to mention a mac here, but I know in OS X you can network two computers via just access points by enabling internet sharing and selecting the internet source and access point for broadcasting so im pretty sure you should be able to in Windows XP, don't know about anything below it though. If it's not built-in to the OS there should be a freeware or cheap app that would allow you to configure it this way. I'd say just get the two from a place that allows returns and if they don't work, send em back. Just remember, you'll have to keep the main PC on all the time otherwise the other two won't have net access.

yea i think if i you use ics you can bridge together to wireless cards together but u said u want to computer u might run into a problem.

*only is you go the ICS route*Since u said u had a linksys router make sure you go in and chaneg the default lan ip to be 192.168.0.1 and not 192.168.1.1

There is a SIMPLE RULE OF THUMB ABOUT WIRELESS

YOU NEED AT LEAST TWO WIRELESS TO DEVICES TO GET WIRELESS!!

If you have a router, w/o a wap and just a USB Wireless Adapter, you get poop OK.

You still Need the WAP for the router.

You to have something to send and recieve the wireless signal.

The Entire Wireless Router's are cheaper than just bying the add on Ethernet WAP.

Linksys BEFW11S4 version 2 or 3. will do the job.

When building my Wireless network I have found out two things. One of which is about Blitzz.

Blittz makes a great Mobile card, but their other equipment with the PCI Wireless card being especially noted; because it looses signal often, even if it's within close open proximity of the wireless router.

I would use a different brand, namely Linksys or Netgear. These two brands are excellent quality at reasonable prices. If you were to pay 10 - 20 bucks more (on average) to get the above mentioned, it would be worth it to you for 3 reasons.

1. Quality + Wi-Fi certified + Docs

2. WEP Encryption can Generate HEX (this comes in really handy)

3. Software is better and updated more frequently with support to boot

If you have a wired hub and want to share with a wireless device, you have a couple of options.

Get a Wireless Router and a Wireless Device (USB, PCI, Mobile; they are usally within the same price range)

Get a Wireless Device and another Wireless Device

Probably the easiest to setup and deploy are the USB Wireless, if you choose this option, go with the linksys because they seem to be more up-to-date on the firmware and drivers than Netgear is (only marginally so)

You would run these two devices on Ad-Hoc to have them talk to each other, and then everything else included with getting the internet piped through the wireless is post mortem

If you have Windows XP bridging the two devices it won't work the way you want it to, so you would use the ICS, which is available on all versions of windows since 98 SE. Since ICS throws an IP to a connecting device that listens for DHCP, it will seamless connect to a Mac regardless, if you are using a windows machine as a gateway.

Edit: The only other thing I can think of regarding this, is, that sometime you would need to manually enter in the gateway IP for it to acquire the DHCP information.

If you are using a Mac as a Gateway, I'm sure there is a similiar configuration for Internet sharing, I'm 80% sure Mac OS.X will have this. Both should be easy to setup.

you can watch your local best buy or circuit city, open box buys come with the same warranty as a new part, only difference is, it left the store for some reason. both my router and my sony video cam i got open box buy, i saved 100+ on the router and 400 on the camera. depending on if its best buy or cicuit city, you can save more than listed...for instance, CC wanted 1200 for a new camera, there was an open box for 1050, the sales girl told me shed give it to me for 1000, i said 750, she said 850, i said 800 and stated that i could get a new one for that via the web...i got it for 800 and away i went, she gets her commission back on the returned item and i get a cheap camera. linksys and d-link are notorious for mail in rebates...just keep watching and you'll score one for at least 40% off.

    • I would not mind paying 120 up to 150 dollars in this economy value of the dollar currency if their video game is quite breathtaking and excellent use of my hard earned work money. I think people need to appreciate all the effort workers and time that goes into excellent and worthy video games. Now if only the publishers and companies behind the video games would share the love with the developers those at the bottom of work making such games happen as in increase their money accounts and give them a more richer life that I wish would have happened . But how companies have bad reputation of being $$$ profit greedy I feel sad if there are any developers that feel unappreciated as in no real compensation for all the hours of work they put into a blockbuster hit . Have a great day everyone . Thank you developers engineers and programmers that make superb video games happen . You have my thanksgiving and I hope you really really appreciate my words . With you all about this
    • I guess they use the free version, which doesn't send money to any Russians.
    • True, you can pin it to the Start Menu, but my preference is to pin it to the Taskbar since I am using W11 on a desktop with a large display and a lot of space on the Taskbar.
    • 200 mph. Try going 200 mph with a vehicle on a street in any city in America. Good luck. Yes its speculation but so is the idea that it has been 100% approved by the government. When a new drug is under development it goes through a number of test phases, each of increasing efficacy and safety. I would imagine it is the same in this case. You can similuate real conditions on test roads with other cars and if successful on test roads you move it to the next test phase of testing it on real streets with human assistance if needed. Testing conditions on test roads can never account for all real life situations on real roads. This is what I imagine is happening now. The final test phase.
