I'll give you that - it's best suited for running or working out; however the earbuds that Apple produces are crap - crap sound, and dunno about you, but the certainly do not stay in my ears when I am running.

Honestly, I've had no problems with sound quality or staying in my ear... but then, I also haven't used anything else to compare them to.

People still bitch about having another choice? There are other models on the market that might suit you better. Get those and stop whining.

Does the Apple bashing hurt your feelings?

A stupid idea is a stupid idea, doesn't matter what company it's coming from. I don't even want a shuffle and I can tell this is a stupid idea. So can any other sane person.

Tell me, how does this make listening to music at the gym any easier/more enjoyable?

You can, just not with this Shuffle model.

This shuffle model which is, in the eyes of Apple, superior and thus will supersede any previous models, unless you can find them used elsewhere. Once again, Apple is selling us this model because it's better and we don't know we even need it yet.

I'm not at all against earphone-based controls at all. I use them all the time on my iPhone. But considering how many third-party earphone inline controllers don't adjust volume and other things, I still think there's a place for controls on the device itself.

I do hope the next nano doesn't become screen-only.

This new shuffle is lame as hell. But Apple are still selling the 2nd generation (the best one in my book).

I'd love to see how the Apple fanboys spin this one.

Triple click to play previous track... hahahahaha!

Maybe Apple will make us use morse code to search song names by letter next.

Its about time this got built into an ipod, it has been in the iphone all the time.

No, but it does seem to make you feel happy about it.

Oh, so you don't even want one but say it's a stupid idea. You're my new hero (Y). Bash all you want, you're the one looking ignorant anyway.

I still don't get it. Why does ADDING another model hurt you all so much. No one forces you to buy this, the previous model is still being sold, what's the problem after all?

I remember everyone bashing the Shuffle when it came out... OMG no screen!! Now it's just the same. Bashing, bashing, but people still buy it anyway. I bought a Touch 'cause it was the right model for me. Why don't you all do the same and stop acting like trolls. I haven't seen a based opinion here so far. It's just mindless bashing.

I read somewhere it would be $20, which is still ridiculous.

If it's $20, yes it's really ridiculous on Apple's part. It should come for free with the iPod.

No, but it does seem to make you feel happy about it.

You're right. Every reply in this thread is stupid because no one seems to want one nor sees how this is better than the previous generation of shuffles. Please. You need to make something appealing to make people want it in the first place, duh.

You keep telling us not to bash it. What do you want us to discuss then? How brilliant Apple is at turning something that was very simple, small, and usable into something that is now proprietary, complicated, and just generally stupid overall?

You won't HAVE to buy an adapter... as with other Apple products, there will be companies that create headphones that include the controls. It's only a matter of time.

Besides, this is only an issue for people that CHOOSE to buy this specific iPod. Continue to use your headphones with whatever iPod (or other device) you already have.

But what if I wanted to use the rather nice headphones I already have? And why should I be forced to pick one set and not use other devices/speakers?... I tend to ###### my iPod out on anything that will accept it ..

The only people who will choose to buy this are likely to be those who have never used anything else, it's their first MP3 player, they don't know about different headphones giving better/lesser sound etc... I guess that's all they want *shrugs*

I don't want one because I think it's a stupid idea. If it wasn't for that lame control I would consider one when my old Shuffle needs a replacement.

And I can't see anything on the thread title that says you are only allowed an opinion if you are planning to buy one ..

Why does thinking the new version is flawed hurt you so much?

Re read the thread, I don't consider:

I like the design of the unit itself, it's more subtle for clipping onto clothes and such.

to be mindless bashing..

The website only has the 1GB version, the 2GB one has disappeared, so they have taken one away it seems. Are they going to continue selling that or is it only until stocks run out?

To me it looks like they were trying to make something new and different for the sake of it, and ended up with a compromise rather than the usual finesse I see in Apple products. They added a feature (the voice-over) but seem to have cut it back elsewhere at the same time. I presume when they tried out a Sony style remote (that headphones plug into) it didn't suit what they wanted.. too heavy perhaps..

If they had kept the buttons on the main unit, and still had that new voice-over thing, that would have been far more impressive.

Bashing without reason, yes. You're just bashing 'cause you don't like it. It doesn't make it a bad product. I certainly won't be buying it if that's what you're thinking. It's not targeted at me, and it doesn't suit my needs. But what do you know? I'm not bashing a product not made or designed for me. Do you go bash sunglasses made for blind people? They look stupid most of the times, let's go and tear them apart in the forums shall we.

It seems you have a hard time with a company releasing a product not tailored for you. Boo hoo, grow up.

But what if I wanted to use the rather nice headphones I already have? And why should I be forced to pick one set and not use other devices/speakers?... I tend to ###### my iPod out on anything that will accept it ..

That's the thing, this isn't replacing our players, nor the ones on the market. It's merely filling another niche (that Apple believes to exist). If those are priorities for you when it comes to a music player, then it certainly isn't the model for you. That simple.

The only people who will choose to buy this are likely to be those who have never used anything else, it's their first MP3 player, they don't know about different headphones giving better/lesser sound etc... I guess that's all they want *shrugs*

Yes, there's a big market of people who just want to listen to music and don't give a damn about headphones.

Also, I've never understood why people say the default headphones suck. They're more than enough to listen to music, not everyone needs professional headphones on the go.

I don't want one because I think it's a stupid idea. If it wasn't for that lame control I would consider one when my old Shuffle needs a replacement.

It doesn't. I just don't understand all the hate around it. If it replaced the previous shuffle line I'd agree with you, but it doesn't. It's just filling another supposed gap Apple believes to exist in the music market.

And of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I've seen people just going overboard in this thread and that puzzles me. It's just a freakin' music player guys and gals.

Everyone bashing a ****ty product because it has a horrible design is bashing without reason?

Apple fanboys come up with better spin stories than I previously thought!

Since you proved my point with your excellently based opinion, I'll just let the "fanboy" remark slide for now.

If it's $20, yes it's really ridiculous on Apple's part. It should come for free with the iPod.

Agreed. Remember when the iPods used to come with docks and other stuff? Now you're lucky to get the little pouch, and I don't even think they do that anymore.

I was tempted to buy one, as I mostly listen to PodCasts (something this model does properly, unlike the previous), and thought this would be ideal - until I realised you were stuck with the Apple earphones. I can not stand wearing any in the ear ones at all, I find them extremely painful and uncomfortable, so I have to use the clip over ear ones.

So, looks like it's out for me at present...

IMO this iPod with the controls on the headphones is best suited for the gym or running. Have you ever tried to use an iPod wheel while running?

If you want a Shuffle for the gym or running, then why on earth would you choose this one over the other one with the buttons? If you're running, you want to focus on that, not try and remember the combinations you need to do stuff on this one. Clipping the other shuffle to your waist and then pressing a button is to pause/play/skip, etc, is a million times easier then pressing a button in combinations to do something.

I would have prefered if the old shuffle went into a 4GB version and would cost 5 or $10 less than it was.

The old one was plain perfect. Also, making it EVEN smaller IMO was not necessary.

I know this one has more functionality and I'm not against functionality, but I don't like the way it was implemented.

Is there seriously a problem in liking Apple products ?

its to keep us from sticking that ipod in a microsoft head phones.. just think about it all ipodscould follow this crappy standard

i hope not.

But i like my Microsoft Zune Premium Headphones!

But anyways, i don't get Apple approach on this new shuffle.

    • Sorry to be that guy but, Given Trump won again even after a failed first term it would appear attacking the other side is how to gain Government in America. Voters when it came down to it didn't give a s**t about those Democratic achievements and voted for Trump over an intelligent, qualified mixed race woman. We need to face up to this uncomfortable reality. There are more Americacan voters who support racism and christian bigotry along with defending and supporting pedophilia, adjudicated rapists, multiple time convicted felons etc than those who don't. Btw, that is how the world sees America now. Not that Trump voters care as they attempt to cocoon themselves in a **** bubble.
    • That's not clickbait. Clickbait is headlines like, "You'll never guess what this person looks like now" for example. For goodness sake, take a look around the internet if you think this is clickbait. How do sites survive if people don't click through to articles? How many people in all honesty would have clicked this if it had your suggested headline? You and those upvoting your post won't be happy until the web is a couple of hundred websites all behind a paywall.

    • Or use Epic games and get full games for free. lol Steam and their demos. Thankfully there’s competition
    • Maybe I missed it, but does this say anywhere that the game save bug has been squashed? I haven't encountered it myself, but it would be nice to know I'm good to go. Anyway, amazingly well done game. Mostly more of the same. ...but when the same is best in class with improved graphics and features, then a win.
