I built my first pc from scratch the other day and purchased all my parts from http://www.overclockers.co.uk ...

Everything is fine apart from the fact that once in a while quite randomly the pc will shut and reboot

I was wondering if this is a generic problem or weather I need to post specs etc.

Thanks

moved to hardware

could be the power supply.what brand and wattage is your power supply?i would try a different power supply and see if it continues reboots.maybe your current psu isnt providing enough power to the system.what are the specs of your computer?it could be the rail strength.

Check the System log in the Event Viewer and look for "Save Dump" entries, if those exist, you are experiencing BSOD's

To set Windows to not reboot, go into System Properties > Advanced > Startup and recovery settings > uncheck Automatically Restart; that way if it does crash, most of the time a certain file is displayed as the culprit.

no BSOD, just shuts and reboots itself

the psu came with the Chieftec Dragon DA-01BD Full Tower... ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Onl..._Cases_128.html )

Athlon XP 1700+ @ 2000

Abit NFS-7

120WD 8mb cache

Philips CD-RW

3 x 80mm fans

radeon 9100

XP Pro SP1

I think thats about right (Y)

Yea I have constant problems with my rig. I think I have a faulty mobo. I get BSOD's like crazy and random reboots. And I am not able to play a game reason being, after about 5 mins I get a Don't Send Error.

But it's an error with the game. (i.e. for Medal of Honor, error would be in... moh.exe)

I hate it, but I'll eventually trade in my mobo hopefully thats the problem.

But I do have a 300w Power Supply, so that could be a problem, oh lord I don't know, but I do have BIG problems and I can't stand them.

ANY Suggestions??

Alrighty, with a bugcheck code of 0x000000d1, and a search with google found me this:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...md_stp_ottj.asp

It says the cause is faulty drivers. Until it crashes again, and a specific dll or file is named, not sure what else you can do ;)

Edit: Actually, since you mentioned specific memory addresses, go into Device Manager > View > Resources by Type > Expand Memory > find a component that contains 0xffbdf008, and or 0xf7f33676 in it's range. This might give you the general idea what driver is crashing.

I have tried every BIOS version that Asus came out with for my board.

Anyone ever heard of an errors within the .exe file

Like for Half-Life.

I get an error in "hl.exe".

I can't stand it anymore!! I want the kind of computer I paid for, not this horribly error-full one.

    • These 20 crypto phishing applications are scamming Play Store users by Hamid Ganji Google Play Store is the main venue for Android users to download applications. While Google has strict rules and policies for verifying apps, some malicious apps somehow slip through anyway. Meanwhile, when it comes to crypto wallet apps, both Google app auditors and Play Store users need to be even more cautious. Cyble Research and Intelligence Labs has identified at least 20 crypto phishing applications on the Google Play Store that impersonate legitimate and popular crypto wallet apps and try to steal users' crypto credentials. By impersonation, these malicious apps trick users into downloading them and then start to capture the user's actual login data. "What makes this campaign particularly dangerous is the use of seemingly legitimate applications, hosted under previously benign or compromised developer accounts, combined with a large-scale phishing infrastructure linked to over 50 domains. This extends the campaign's reach and lowers the likelihood of immediate detection by traditional defenses." Cyble writes. Some of these malicious apps have the same name but come with a different package name. After removing duplicate names, here's the list of 9 newly discovered crypto phishing applications on the Play Store: Pancake Swap Suite Wallet Hyperliquid Raydium BullX Crypto OpenOcean Exchange Meteora Exchange SushiSwap Harvest Finance Blog According to Cyble, these apps prompt users to enter their 12-word mnemonic phrase to access the fake crypto wallet. Also, scammers use accounts that were previously used to distribute legitimate apps to minimize the risk of getting caught by Google. These accounts are more likely to be compromised and then taken over by scammers. If you've downloaded any of these fake crypto wallet apps from the Play Store, make sure to delete them as soon as possible. In 2024, revenue from crypto scams was estimated to be around $9.9 billion. This billion-dollar crypto scam business is expected to grow massively in 2025 thanks to AI.
