Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Film)

Early reviews are out, they are not very positive I must say, the main four complaints about the film were:

  • The films is very slow in the middle when the trio are camping in various areas and don't know what to do, the pacing becomes incredibly slow at this part.
  • Confusing plot, no idea why the heck they think it's confusing but apparently the whole horcruxes & hallows thingy is too complicated
  • Incomplete, the film has no resolution (duh!) and doesn't stand on its own.
  • Too dark and doesn't feel like a harry potter film, no hogwarts and doesn't feel magical, this is of course is just a crappy criticism.

However, all the technical aspects as the direction, acting, cinematography, effects...etc were praised.

Well it still has 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. I know I;m gonna love it, but I'm a huge books fan so I don't expect to be confused by the plot. The middle of the movie might be slow, but so was the book's and it was a great opening to a grand finale.

Well I have to say that is good. That means is like the book. The first part of the book is slow and without Hogwarts. Confusing plot?

There are always a handful of reviewers, who claim the films are 'complicated' - even going back to the Philosophers Stone. I just think they aren't paying attention (at least with the frst six, though it's probably the same with the last 'two')

I love the books but every movie seems a bit slow in comparison to me.

The books, as a series, are in my top 20 of all time. I can argue for days, and days, about how they're one of the most significant things to happen in literature, for generations. The movies, on the other hand - I've either been bored, disliked, or flatout hated, all of 'em - with the exception of Prisoner of Azkaban, which I liked as a film, but hated as an adaptation (they pretty much cut Rons balls off in that film).

However, like a true geek, I'm still going to see Deathly Hallows Pt.1 at the local IMax when it's released. And buying the series 'Mega Boxset'

 Same here, while the movies are bad compared to the books I still watch every one of them. And +1 on Prisoner of Azkaban, the best one of them all, thanks to Gary Oldman (among others but I loved his Sirius Black).

5 DAYS TILL THE PREMIERE :woot:

TWO MORE DAYS!

Bought a nice Gryffindor t-shirt and a Deathly Hallows poster (27x40" for $6!). SO EXCITED!

Neowin requires pictures of you wearing it :p :shifty:

Haha, nerding it up, I hope your going to wear it to the film.

I wore a Transformers and Star Trek t-shirt when I went to see the films, just that cool, lol.

Over 3 quarters of an hour in at midnight launch, just thought I would post a message for the rest of the world while im taking a toilet break (dam those massive movie cokes) that you won't be disapointed. :woot:

 I've managed to book my tickets today (almost missed it, but my cinema opened 4th room for midnight screening - madness BTW I've been to almost every major movie premiere at midnight, there always was only one screening and like 15 people on the audience). It premieres on Friday so I'm going on midnight on Thursday :D

dedication! :D

Honestly I think this will most likely be the best of the movies even thought i was the worst of the books lol. Difficult to tell thought being that I have not seen it and have been avoiding certain circles about the film to prevent any bias when I do go and see it.

    • Yes, it was amusing at the time because even then dbrand was well known for stealing the designs of products from other companies. That’s what they do.
    • Didn’t Dbrand once complain that Casetify was ripping off their designs a well? seems pretty bad of them to try and get around Valve’s copyright this way with that in mind.
    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
