Ok fixed some little things, which will be in the next update:

- solid progressbar

- fixed the problem with the shutdownbuttons in the startmenu (alvin's problem... well actually everyone's problem)

- changed the captionbar of toolwindows a little

- tweaked some colors

If anyone has any suggestions, keep them comming!!!

Btw, tried texture on the startmenu... I think it looks ugly, so forget about it.

is it allready updated? can i download it now?

No sorry, I have to sit on it for a while.

I'm thinking of changing some things for the next release, but I have to see how those will work out. So no release yet.... sorry.

I have some suggestions for your Visual Style.

Theres some differences between your VS and the real BlueCurve. I know its impossible to make a perfect copy of the real Bluecurve but anyway here's my suggestions:

-It would be nice if you could make the control button dark gray when pressed:

rhbc4.jpg

-It would be nice if you could make the bar in the minimize button a little bit bolder, and center the bar in the button:

rhbc2.jpg

-Also it would be nice if you could make that kind of gradient in the title bar:

rhbc1.jpg

-And finally I don't know if that bug has been reported, sometimes the text in the title bar overlap the first button:

rhbc3.jpg

I know this is a lot of thing but I think it would make this style better and more accurate of the real BlueCurve theme.

Thats all!

Thanks

The things you are asking are almost all impossible due to limitations of the msstyle format.

-It would be nice if you could make the control button dark gray when pressed:

Impossible, I can't make graphics that cover the whole height of the captionbar. If I could I could have made real buttons, but it is just not possible.
-It would be nice if you could make the bar in the minimize button a little bit bolder, and center the bar in the button:

I can make it a little bolder. I'll see if that looks ok, if it does I will make it a little bolder.

Sadly I can't shift that button more to the left, this seems to be the maximum (there actually is a parameter for this, but changing this parameter doesn't do anything).

-It would be nice if you could make the bar in the minimize button a little bit bolder, and center the bar in the button:
This is possible I think, I would have to make the graphics bigger. I'll see if it is possible. I like the gradient too, so if I can pull that off, it would be great.
-And finally I don't know if that bug has been reported, sometimes the text in the title bar overlap the first button:

I don't know if I can change that, but I'll try.

By the way, I already decreased the size of the captionbar with 2 pixels. It looks more like the real BlueCurve captionbar now, height wise.

Stay tuned, I think I can release version 2.1 this week. It will also have an updated shellstyle. I haven't found the fix for that controlpanelbug yet, but I'll try find it.

a bug!

Hahaha, what the hell is that???

You must be missing a font. Try to download Classix10k and get the fonts out of that pack and install the fonts. That should fix the problem.

I used the classix10k shellstyle as my base so it uses one of their fonts, so to fix it rip the fonts out of the classix10k package.

Hey Schmoove how about some different colour scheme's! I know it's called bluecurve , so people don't start on me with that.. :) But i have see ss's from different people with Green such as the creator Garret Lasage, and i also saw one, called Bluecurve Prion which is kinda silverish. I dunno, just a thought, or a big hint i mean :)

P.S. Thanks a million man for porting it, and keep working on it! Don't let it die out like a some other fad style's.

Schmoove your style is getting better and better near perfection!

Your doing great job!

Now it would be very nice if you could make that gradient in the title bar, if its possible!

Also I dont know if its me, but the height of the caption bar doesnt seem to be the same when the window is maximized and when its not. It looks a little bit bigger when its maximized but maybe its my eyes!

Anyway keep up the good work!

Just a thought, but guys, you're askin for alot of work out of this guy.

Taking just 3 of the ideas I've seen-

Say he does 3 font sizaes, 3 more colors (4 total) and 3 versions of the 3d buttons-

That's 3 (font) X 4 (colors) X 3 (buttons)

36.

36 files, unless there's a much easier way to do it. Not to mention Thin and Full taskbars- that's 72 files.

Thin Smallfont Blue Flat

Thin Medfont Blue Flat

Thin Largefont Blue Flat

Full Small Blue Flat

Full Med Blue Flat

Full Large Blue Flat

Thin Small Green Flat

Thin Med Green Flat

Thin Lg Green Flat

Full S Green Flat

Full M Green Flat

Full L Green Flat

I really hope you get the idea. I think most of these arn't things that we can just "spur of the moment add", like I know that start buttons are interchangeable (arn't they?) via BMP, this is all different styles.

I've often thought that VS makers should put out their files, too- Then, people can make their own darn addons. Frankly, I like Full Taskbar, Standard Fonts, Flat Buttons, Blue color- Just the way he made it. I don't think too many other people would use, for example, the 3d toolbars- Just keep in mind, your asking HIM to spend HIS time to make something for YOU. Nothing wrong with that, just do so in moderation.

Schmoove your style is getting better and better near perfection!

Your doing great job!

That's correct, the maximized captionbar is like 1 or maybe 2 pixels bigger. Gotta fix that... but I forgot *doh*
Requests:

1. Make the font larger.

2. Bring back start menu user pics like in regular XP.

3. Alternate startbuttons besides Redhat. Optional, not too important.

4. 3D menu selection bar if possible:

1) Tried it, looks ugly.... forget it. Windows just doesn't handle the fonts the same as Red Hat, so it turns out to look ugly on Windows. Besides I really like Verdana 7, so I'm not gonna change that.

2) No way. I love the startmenu the way it it now. Took me 3 days to come up with a decent startmenu and it turned out great. I am not gonna change that.

3) You can decompile the msstyle with StyleBuilder and add your own startbutton. I am not gonna make extra styles for that, because it is a real pain in the ass to maintain more then 2 styles. Even maintaining 2 style is kinda annoying, imagine if I have to maintain 6 styles or something

4) It is possible, but I also tried this and I think the way it is now looks better. I know it is not really the same in the real BlueCurve, but that's no big deal. I'm not gonna make my theme ugly just because it resembles the real BlueCurve more. I think this just looks better.

I might include extra startbuttons in the package as goodies (like Binary does with Watercolor). But you still gotta add them to the theme yourself. You can do that easily with either StyleBuilder or ResourceHacker.

I was thinking about a RedCurve, an OrangeCurve and a GreenCurve myself. But I'm not gonna start on that before I'm 100% sure that the theme is bugfree and doesn't need to be changed. Because like I said before, maintaining multiple themes is a real pain in the ass.

I tried the gradient and I must say it looks very good. Apart from one thing.

The graphics used for the captionbar become too big. This results in weird things when resizing the windows. The gray components like the fake buttons become squashed.

So I can't add a captionbar gradient, it just screws up the behaviour of the window.

    • First time clicking on a Sayan Sen article after he started making clickbait, vague headlines recently. Didn't read, just came here to say the headline doesn't look like very cheap, vague clickbait this time. Are you okay?
    • Good review, and yeah the benchmark breakdown is pretty clear but also a little messy in a good way. It’s kinda interesting to see where the RX 9070 GRE slides in between the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT , especially when it comes to AI tasks and Blender style workloads. The side by side with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 4070 makes it feel obvious just how competitive the mid range GPU scene has gotten lately, and that’s great for creators and gamers too since you can pick based on your priorities rather than only chasing one single thing.
    • That's it. I finally uninstalled Firefox because they often keep pushing buggy updates, only to test them later and make users suffer. No longer is it my alternative browser to Edge. What a waste of energy. Firefox is bad for the environment, just like Chrome (wasting RAM/energy).
