Third Men in Black in Development!

If Will Smith drops out, this movie will fail. He needs to work out a way to do both movies though lol.

Both were in the 2nd one and that sucked horse ****. I even fell asleep during it. Add to the fact the CG on Jonny Knocksville was horrible.

Men in Black III, however, is scheduled for filming in New York starting in September. Barry Sonnenfeld is directing the May 25, 2012 release, starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Jemaine Clement.

Deadline has learned that Academy Award-winning actress Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, Nanny McPhee) has joined Men in Black III, the 3D sequel to Barry Sonenfeld?s two action/comedy/alien movies. She joins the previously announced cast which includes Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Jemaine Clement and Josh Brolin. No word on what role Thompson will play in the new film. Thompson is probably too old to play Brolin?s romantic interest, and likely too young to play Jones? wife/girlfriend. So it is likely her role is something else entirely.

Filming is almost underway for Men in Black 3, the 3D sequel that will reunite Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and director Barry Sonnenfeld, but for those that still aren?t on board, here?s some last-minute casting to help get you in the mood.

The deals aren?t finalized yet, but Sharlto Copley, Alec Baldwin and Gemma Arterton are all negotiating roles for the film, which finds Will Smith traveling back in time and teaming up with Josh Brolin as a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones? character K. Learn more about these actors? potential roles in the film after the break.

Though specifics of the plot have been kept under wraps, we do know that most of the action will take place in 1969, which lines up with the casting report from Pajiba. They list Baldwin as playing the ?60s head of MIB to Emma Thompson?s modern day MIB boss. (You might recall, Thompson was cast a couple of weeks ago.) Arterton will join Baldwin in the ?60s as a secretary, which doesn?t tell us much about the size of her role. Is she just a bit player, or might she serve as a love interest as well?

Sharlto Copley, meanwhile, will once again find himself on the opposite side of the species line, playing ?a fast-talking Yoda type alien?. (And with Copley having only starred in two films so far, that makes two out of three.) Again, details on the role are limited, so it?s unclear if he?ll be acting as a comedic foible for the MIB crew, or if he?ll be joining Jemaine Clement as one of the film?s villains. I?d love to see Copley opposite Clement, personally, as past reports have indicated that Clement?s character Yaz is badass and violent, but not particularly humorous. Having Copley there to play off of would allow Clement an opportunity to still be funny (as the ?straight man?) without compromising his character.

In any case, here?s what little we know so far about the film?s plot: The villainous Yaz (played by Clement) travels back in time to kill K, ?which sets off a chain of events that ends in the destruction of the world.? Enter Will Smith and Josh Brolin to save the day. And if we?re lucky, there?s a meaty part in there for Tommy Lee Jones, too, rather than just a glorified cameo.

Actress Betty White and singer Nicole Scherzinger have been confirmed to appear in Men in Black III, reports E! Online.

Betty White, best known as one of the stars of "The Golden Girls" has recently had a tremendous surge in popularity, starring in films like The Proposal and You Again. Scherzinger, meanwhile, is best known as the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls.

E! confirmed the casting with Scherzinger herself, who told the outlet that she will play a woman named Lilly.

"She's like a small villain role," said Scherzinger, "I'm so excited because I get to die. I make an appearance. I say a couple of lines and then I die."

Though White's role is not named at this time, she will join the franchise returning stars, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, as well as newcomers Josh Brolin, Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson and Alec Baldwin.

Men in Black III is expected to go into production shortly with a script from Etan Cohen and David Koepp. Barry Sonnenfeld will return to the franchise as director. The film is being planned for release on May 25th, 2012.

So it sounds like Rip Torn is not reprising his role?

My favorite was his line of 'We're not hosting an intergalactic kegger here.' ha ha.

While I would love Rip Torn to return also, after his last uh, incident, I seriously doubt the producers would even want him back again. Though it was like 6 months ago now, still they won't bring him back probably due to that thingie.

Photos from the New York set of Men in Black III have appeared online courtesy of Splash News and The Daily Mail.

Among the candid shots captured are first looks at a slimed Will Smith as well as the costumes for both Emma Thompson and Nicole Scherzinger. Scherzinger previously commented about her role, saying that she plays a female villain named Lilly and only has a few moments of screentime. Thompson is said to be playing Oh, the new head of the Men in Black.

Said to feature Agent J (Smith) traveling back in time and teaming with a younger Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones in the present day scenes and Josh Brolin in the ones set in the past), Men in Black III also stars Jemaine Clement and Alec Baldwin.

Alec Baldwin drops out of MEN IN BLACK 3

Alec Baldwin was set to star in a small role in the long delayed, Men in Black 3. As we've reported there have been two big delays on the film. Sony has the first act in the can, but has been scrambling to pull together an acceptable script for the second. The script is currently being reworked by David Koepp.

Vulture recently spoke to Baldwin about his role and the actor responded by saying,

I?m not doing that. I?m out of it; the schedule didn?t work out.

ShockTillYouDrop.com had a chance to speak with makeup and effects legend Rick Baker, who promises that not only will we being seeing new aliens, but that classic sci-fi fans in particular will be in for a treat next summer.

"The thing that's cool is there is a time travel element [to the story]," he says, "Where I had fun is that we go back to the Men in Black headquarters of the '60s. The first thing I said is that we should have retro aliens, not aliens of 2012. More based on B-movies of the '50s and '60s. So, a lot of the aliens are based on that. Space suits with fishbowl helmets and ray guns."

The plot is said to feature Will Smith's Agent J traveling back in time and re-teaming with a younger version of Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones in present day and Josh Brolin in the past). Newcomers to the franchise for the third go-round include Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Alice Eve and Michael Stuhlbarg.

Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men in Black 3 hits 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on May 25, 2012.

May 25, 2012 is an earlier date than I expected. It's 21 days after the release of The Avengers.

Both will pretty much be on the top when released (except Avengers will fall to 2 when MIB3 is released)

Loved Smith's impression of K smiling and then K saying later "How do you know my name?".

    • This is about the EU given consumers options, Apple is all about not giving options and locking you into its own services, this hurts Apple far more than it hurts the EU market because it makes Apple products look less appealing by Apple refusing to offer its own service because they have to give options to rivals, the end results are consumers might look at alternatives like Android. It's a game Apple can't really win when there are alternatives and Apple will in time change course on this, until then, let Apple hurt themselves in the EU market.
    • Microsoft unveils new Surface Laptop with improved trackpad, Snapdragon X2, and more by Taras Buria Microsoft's new Surface Laptop Ultra generated a lot of buzz earlier this month, but in addition to its most powerful laptop with an NVIDIA chip, Microsoft also has a more affordable laptop lineup, which has been waiting for an update for quite a while. Today, Microsoft announced the eighth-generation Surface Laptop. The new Surface Laptop is powered by the Snapdragon X2 Plus and X2 Elite processors. These chips offer faster CPU performance, up to 58% faster graphics, and 80 TOPS Neural Processing Units (NPUs) for on-device AI processing. Like the previous models, these chips retain their great energy efficiency, and Microsoft says that buyers can expect up to 20 hours of work on a single charge. The laptop is available in two sizes: 13.8-inch and 15-inch. You will have a hard time finding visual differences between the new and previous models, as Microsoft is not taking any major design leaps, except for the new Jade color, which may look familiar to Surface Laptop 5 owners. Other colors include Platinum, Black, and Dune. The 15-inch variant got a higher-resolution display. It is a 3,270 x 2,180 resolution screen with a pixel density of 262 ppi (the 13-inch model has a 201 ppi density) and a maximum brightness of 600 nits SDR and HDR. Unlike the Surface Pro 12th-gen, which is available with optional OLED displays, the Surface Laptop sticks with IPS, a 1,300:1 contrast ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Another notable change in the Surface Laptop 8 is its trackpad. It now provides haptic feedback when you perform various actions in apps and the operating system. It is a relatively new feature that Microsoft brought to Windows 11 in recent updates, and it is only available on certain devices, such as the Logitech MX Master 4, Surface Slim Pen 2, the upcoming Surface Laptop Ultra, and now the Surface Laptop 8. The new Surface Laptop with the new Surface Pro Like its tablet-shaped sibling, the new Surface Laptop is notably more expensive. It starts at a $1,599 for a 13.8-inch configuration with a 256GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. However, in the US, the base model has double the storage while keeping the same price. Available configurations include up to 64GB of memory and up to 2TB SSD (user-removable PCIe Gen4). The Surface Laptop 8 is now available for purchase on the official Microsoft website.
    • Microsoft announces 12th-gen Surface Pro with Snapdragon X2 processors by Taras Buria So far, 2026 has been rich in Surface announcements. Microsoft started with a fresh lineup of Surface for Business devices powered by Intel's new Core Ultra 300 processors. Then the company revealed the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful laptop with NVIDIA's RTX Spark processor. Now, it is time for new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models with Qualcomm processors. Microsoft's original Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon X1 chips debuted in late May 2024. Two years later, Microsoft is finally updating the lineup with new models featuring Snapdragon X2 processors. The 12th-gen Surface Pro continues the well-established formula of Microsoft's flagship tablet, and Microsoft is not even changing colors, as the tablet will be available in three colors: Dune, Black, and Platinum. The most important changes are mostly hidden inside. Microsoft switched from the Snapdragon X1 to the new Snapdragon X2, which promises up to 53% faster graphics performance than the previous generation and up to 15.5 hours of battery life. The built-in NPU is also much more powerful, and it can run at up to 80 TOPS for on-device AI processing. Like before, the new Surface Pro is available with a 13-inch IPS display, and Microsoft is still offering OLED as a separate, more expensive configuration. Speaking of configurations, the Surface Pro will be available with a 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus or a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite. Microsoft expanded the available RAM configurations to 64GB (previously 32GB was the maximum), while storage remains unchanged at 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of user-replaceable PCIe Gen4 SSDs. The new Surface Pro and the Surface Laptop Other specs remain mostly unchanged. The computer has the same 1440p Windows Hello webcam, two USB4 ports for charging, data, and display output, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support, dual speakers, and compatibility with Surface Pro Signature and Flex keyboards. With that said, there is one very important aspect of the Surface Pro that changed significantly, and it is the price. While the previous-gen Surface Pro launched at $999 for the base configuration, in 2026, the entry-level Surface Pro with Snapdragon X2, 16GB of memory, and 256GB will set you back an eye-watering $1,499. To sweeten the pill, Microsoft is running a limited-time promotion where Surface Pro buyers can get a free Surface Pro 13-inch Keyboard. The promo runs from June 16 through June 30. The new Surface Pro is available now on the official Microsoft Store website.
