werejag yor exactly right. and x dont try that crap. oh read my statement use at your own risk crap. Im no noob been in computers 25 years. The point is people like you release code and programs Before it's stable just because people are rushing or to make a name. Real prgramers take their time dont care about fame and being liked and admired. They MAKE sure the code is correct. Of course there is always issues with code thats to be expected. but from seeing your releases .your work is rushed . I promise you if you count out of these 48 pages of responses the people that had no problems at all and people who did, well you'll get the idea. Lastly thanks werejab for pointing out my stupidity not for being a noob as they say but for even downloading his stuff to begin with.

lol @ newbie

Great pack. I'm very impressed.

So far it's working flawlessly for me. It's nice to have a prettier Windows to use.

I dunno what problems other people are having...

I'm sure it's nothing a WinXP CD-> Repair wouldn't fix anyway... ? (+ the dreaded Windows Update? hehe)

Dunno how these n00bs^H^H^H^H^H silly-people lose 15gigs of data etc...? ah dear.. :(

Anyway,

Thanks Windows X.

Keep up the good work.

windows x , ur program is great but there is a problem....i m given 5 option to choose each for login, start button and for toolbar. Honestly i dont know how aero,pdc,m5,winhec design looks like. Can we have some screenshots for each style.

Thanks

I can't make all shot in program so please try them all or check for Longhorn news to learn about it.

Well, it messed me up pretty bad. I knew there was risk, however - I don't blame X. In fact, I've heard such gushing that I figure I'll give it 1 more shot after the format (I figure what the hell... certianly nothing to lose then, eh?).

I'm also trying this on a system that was backed up, etc, but as a final note - no. A Windows repair didn't fix the problem. In fact, (for some odd reason) a repair wasn't even offered, and after using the Recovery console I realized there was too much damage (in other words, there was more to it than replacing 2 .dlls).

Still, I'm gunna try again :). I have nothing else to do and the screenshot looked purty. Just my 2 cents. Might post results later :).

allright... just had a fresh format/install of XP Pro - no SP. From there, I installed X's Theming program (muliti themer or something) and rebooted. Once that worked, I rebooted into safe mode. From safe mode I installed the Longhorn pak.

Upon reboot, I had the exact error that kille dme the first time. Still, I decided to give it a shot. Oh well :). Thanks anyway!

I love it too, if only I can figure out how to get the About Windows and Computer Lock Dialogue fixed, thats a majour hint that its really XP and not LH

How?

(Windows X, when you move the mouse after being away for awhile its the XP style dialogue boxes, WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL in big words.. When I used your LTP 4.0 Revised, it said Longhorn Professional, therefore it was fixed.. However, thats not the case with this..)

(Silvrrwulf, if Recovery Console does not work for you, then you reinstall, Hit enter instead of R and it will check for Previous Windows Installation and will ask you to hit Enter to continue or hit R to reinstall windows. You should have picked R. If you don't see that, then I think your Windows XP is illegal ;P)

Warning! Warning! This is a crisis! Here's what I've found in 6.0

"Longhorn Transformation Pack has seriously problem about Windows XP without Service Pack 1. shell32.dll is not compatible to OS which make errors and fail to boot. For mistaken checking in beta service packs, it checked only for exactly match which couldn't check any beta service pack to prevent automatic transformation" I need to re-release it immediately!"

I'm so sorry for user who use Windows XP without Service Pack 1. Next update will work fine. I promise.

    • I think every American should have a course in a 'dry sense of humour' at school; and perhaps 'using sarcasm in jest' oh, and also 'the use or irony in humour'. Slapstick is just about all Americans can understand. It's a pity, as this is the most basic of humour, that requires no thought at all. It's hilarious to watch a whole room collapse with laughter while yanks sit scratching their heads...
    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
