Access Ubuntu desktop remotely on Windows desktop

Does not appear to be free anymore, but X-Win32 is the best solution.

Some will no doubtably suggest VNC, but I find that is not as performant.

You can use Putty in conjunction with xwin32 as follows.

There's an option somewhere in Ubuntu that allows you to turn on Remote Desktop. See here:

On your Windows install, download UltraVNC (http://www.uvnc.com/) and simply enter your spare computer's IP address.

edit: hmm... since your spare computer isn't on a static IP address, perhaps try entering its machine name?

Does it matter that both computers have the same IP address becuase they are on the same network?
