Photoshop Gradient Map erasing not working?

Recommended Posts

Hi, when i make a Gradient map on photoshop and then i want to erase specific parts that i don't want the gradient map to cover so when i try to use the eraser tool and erase those parts by selecting the Gradient Map, it just won't work.. :s It used to work as far as i remember am i doing it right or did i forget how to do it lol..

Instead of using your Erase tool, grab the Brush tool and select the Gradient Map layer:

adobephotoshopcs3.jpg

Notice how the Layer Mask is white? That means that the entire area is affected. Select the color opposite of the Layer Mask (so in this case, black) and start brushing the areas you don't want affected.

Change the opacity of the brush to lessen the strength of the tool. You can also use your selection tools and Fill an area with the opposite color.
