'Heroes' star reassures fans over future

Heroes star Dawn Olivieri has reassured fans over the show's future.

The NBC series, which is now in its fourth season, has been struggling to maintain decent ratings in recent weeks.

However, speaking exclusively to DS, Olivieri, who plays carnival goer Lydia on the series, said that she believes the show will return for a fifth season.

"Everybody talks about it losing momentum and not being so great in the ratings, but honestly, this show makes so much money for NBC that I don't see it gong anywhere.

"It's had No.1 DVD sales every year it's been on - internationally - and I don't think it's going anywhere. I think it'll keep going."

Heroes returns to NBC Monday, January 11 in a new 9pm slot.

Unless the storyline can really come up with a whole new arch, I am not sure if I really want a fifth season. This really is getting dragged on a lot longer than it should have. Plus you have to factor in how Comcast will influences NBC, since they now own the network.

As seen in the final ?Heroes? episode of 2009, Nathan Petrelli is now ? more than ever ? truly and sincerely dead. But is that necessarily the last the show?s fans have seen of beloved original cast member Adrian Pasdar?

After all, the NBC series has a habit of finding ways to keep its actors around, death be damned. For example, Pasdar could easily be called upon to shoot a scene that takes place in the past, as Hiro flits around time.

Fancast asked ?Heroes? creator Tim Kring if Pasdar is in fact done with the show, at least for the remainder of Season 4. He told us, ?That is correct. And we are shooting the last episode right now, so I can say that with complete clarity.?

Kring has no regrets about dispensing with Nathan in Episode 12. ?We started discussing it at the end of last season, when we actually killed the character,? he explains, ?so it really just became a matter of how and when.?

The writers initially aimed to keep Pasdar around through all 19 of this season?s episodes, ?but sometimes you can?t stretch stories like taffy,? Kring says. ?You realize, ?We?re treading water here, and we need to make a decision.??

The decision to part ways with Pasdar the actor, however, ?was tough,? Kring admits.

?On every show I?ve been on, there are actors that become leaders,? he says, ?and Adrian has been a terrific guy and a friend. That made this doubly difficult.?

Previewing the show?s January 11 return (?Heroes? will now air Mondays at 9/8c, leading out of ?Chuck?), Kring says that Samuel?s seemingly sinister plan will ?crank up and build to a crescendo,? while Peter rebounds from Nathan?s final exit by seeking out Claire, who has just joined up with the carnival.

?They are able to sort of bond over the loss of their brother and faFancast says. ?So you will see those stories start to collide.?

They're not going to finish out even remotely close to May?

no its a short season and they return very quickly after new year as well instead of being March as it used to be

]Joseph Sullivan was the paternal figure of the carnival for many years before his death. During that time he kept secret the extent to which Samuel's power could grow. Restraining Samuel's very emotions. A task that weighted heavily on Joseph.

Before his untimely death, Joseph took several steps to ensure Samuel would remain in check. The consequences of Joseph's actions proved to be both fatal and far reaching; effecting more than just the lives of these two brothers...

Last Winter, Joseph tasked Arnold, sending him back in time. When Arnold never returned, Joseph and Samuel set out to find him. But the Arnold they found was now a feeble old man...

so Samuel killed the old time traveller :(

I've never read those comics before, I'm a little confused.

In the show, I don't remember anything about Arnold going back in time. The only thing I remember is Samuel asking Arnold to transport Charlie.

Did I miss an episode?

nope everything not explained in the show in the end (in theory) gets explained in the comics

Hmm, never knew that...

Thanks.

All this time travel is overwhelming. Hiro just needs to go back in time, kill baby forms of all villains, the end.

    • I have a TV, but it is not used for normal linear TV, only streaming and it is not a Samsung and the best bit is, I don;'t and never have had a Instagram account. The only thing I have to do with Meta is Faceache and I only keep that just for the messaging part.
    • But building your own.. what? You can't build anything like the Steam Machine yourself. Even trying to get close costs a good deal more. Even just the CPU cooler in their price comparison is as big as the entire Steam Machine. If you want a regular gaming PC, then by all means, build that. If you want a a small console-like PC for the living room that is good for gaming, I'm not sure what else is a better deal. In the GN review, they only mentioned a small form factor Dell, which is like twice the size and hundreds of dollars more expensive.
    • Those are some popular multiplayer games. But hardly "all". Just those that don't work on Linux currently due to specific anti-cheat implementations. I think it's also fair to point out the literally thousands of games that don't work on the PS5. And it's not locked at 1080p. That's the default, which you can change.
    • Ubuntu Livepatch arrives on Arm64 to eliminate system reboots for kernel updates by Paul Hill Canonical has just announced that its Livepatch service now supports computers with Arm64 processors. For those who are not familiar, Livepatch allows users to apply important kernel updates without any service interruption or rebooting. While home users will benefit from this, it’s even more important for critical machines that absolutely should not be going offline at all. The feature is available as part of Ubuntu Core 26 for Arm64 and Ubuntu Core 20 and onwards for AMD64. According to Canonical, this will improve the security of systems that aren’t security-maintained daily or weekly, and it helps organizations work towards Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) compliance. If you are familiar with Ubuntu, you probably know that most packages can be updated without having to restart the system. There is one big exception to this, and that’s the kernel; it typically requires you to reload the system to boot into the new kernel. With Livepatch, Canonical has done something so that you don’t need to restart to begin using the new kernel. Aside from Ubuntu Core 26, users with Arm64 chips running Ubuntu 26.04 LTS can also use Livepatch. If you want to learn more about Livepatch, check out its product page. There, you can also find a button to join Ubuntu Pro (it’s free for several home devices) so that you can enable Livepatch. By linking your computer to Ubuntu Pro, you will also extend the life of your Ubuntu install from five years to ten years. If you are running Ubuntu, let us know in the comments if you have been looking forward to this feature on your ARM-based computer. If you’ve had a compatible AMD64 machine for a while and never used this feature, let us know why in the comments!
