[Cancelled] Heroes Season 4 (Volume 5 : Redemption)

Agreed I was VERY closet o falling a sleep during that episode.

I did fall asleep during one of the Claire scenes. At least the 'trial' was interesting.

But I don't think its fair to say anything about posting right now with the forums being in-flux.

I thought the trial was the most boring part of the episode.

They should have started this season off like this... build up Samuel to the bad guy and show what he is capable of. Then the heroes have to stop him. Instead it takes 14 episodes to show where the season is going (yes, we all knew it but the 4 million viewers who will stick with these filler episodes aint enough).

I think the season should finish like this.

Clair and her roommate should have hot passionate lesbian sex. A little crotch grinding, fingering action. Now that would keep me awake!

Oh, dont get me wrong, I still enjoyed this season. But I really feel like the ratings were hurt by such a long and drawn out season. I am hopeful that Heroes returns next September but with the low ratings it just doesnt seem likely.

I hope this season raps it up, it's obvious they don't have enough content left to fill even one full episode, ramp up to a big duel between Sylar and Samuel and call it a day.

I really liked the last episode. More character development, power usage, and finally seeing what samuel can do. And Hiro is back :)

Hiro's stories are always well done and funny. It is always a pleasure watching him, which is why if the show ever ends, he needs a spinoff

Nah, all they'd do is find new ways to make him impotent with his abilities and be all wishy washy, then make him think he's 10 and more powerful than ever, but then have his mom heal him while they're both dead, since apparently she can heal him without actually being alive....

I am hoping for another season, where all the heroes use their powers to FIGHT every episode! And, don't care what the naysayers say!

Given the budget constraints that NBC has, I just don't see it possible to have fight scenes in every episode. I thought season 5 would be a good idea considering how the storyline was developing during the first half of the season. Now I just want it to end, but I don't realistically see how they can wrap up all the loose ends in Heroes without another season.

+1

and by doing that, it somehow shows Sylar isn't going to end up alone after all, since he joins in half way through?

The Hiro-Charlie storyline hasn't been permanently derailed, says Masi Oka. We will be seeing her again.

Let's put it this way: He has to find Charlie and it will be resolved by the Winter Olympics. I can't say what kind of reunion it will be, but there will be a resolution. Whether it's good or not, the audience will have to decide. But it won't just be talked about - like, 'Oh well, she's lost in time. Too bad!

Also, Hiro will interact with Samuel some more, but he's not too heavily involved in the final showdown with the carnies. And the final confrontation opens up a whole new batch of questions - which absolutely need another season of Heroes to answer. [TV Guide]

Bah, I was happy and then disappointed with the episode tonight. The Sylar/Parkman bit was good but holy crap, I can't believe I saw the "shooting scene" coming from a mile away. Is there anybody who didn't know that was coming? At least don't show the scene with Samuel and the "multiple guy" talking quietly before the shooting goes down.

    • Google reshuffles its AI coding team as it struggles to catch Anthropic by Karthik Mudaliar Google is already reorganizing the AI coding “strike team” it created roughly two months ago, as it attempts to find ways to close the gap with Anthropic in one of generative AI’s most commercially important areas. According to The Information, Google DeepMind is expanding the team’s focus to include “midtraining,” rather than concentrating only on coding tools and agents. Midtraining takes place after a model’s broad initial training but before the final stages that prepare it to follow instructions and perform specific tasks. In simple terms, it gives developers another opportunity to expose a model to carefully selected data before it is polished for release. That could help Google improve Gemini’s underlying coding abilities instead of relying only on better prompts, interfaces, or post-training. Previous research has found that midtraining can be particularly effective for code and mathematics, where models must move from general language knowledge to more structured tasks. Google reportedly created the original strike team in April. It was led by Google DeepMind research engineer Sebastian Borgeaud, who previously worked on model pretraining, and focused on complex, long-running programming jobs. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Google DeepMind chief technology officer Koray Kavukcuoglu were also reportedly involved in the effort. DeepMind researchers were said to believe that Anthropic’s coding tools were outperforming Google’s Gemini models, prompting the company to give the project more attention. Anthropic has made coding a central part of its AI strategy through Claude Code and its Claude model family. The company has continued improving that area, with Claude Opus 4.8 offering upgrades for coding and other agentic tasks, along with the now-unavailable Mythos and Fable models. The reshuffle also comes at a time when Google faces increased competition for AI researchers. Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer recently announced that he was leaving Google for OpenAI, while two other researchers who contributed to Gemini and DeepMind projects are reportedly preparing to join Anthropic. It remains unclear whether the reorganized team will produce a new public Gemini model or developer product. No release date, team size, or specific performance target has been disclosed.
