not sure what the deal is. Panda and Avast say Win32 Trojan down loader!!

It's more than likely because I unpacked the messenger .MSI installer and repacked it with patched files to remove the advertisements.

EDIT:

Actually, if needed to prove it's clean I will upload the source.

No big deal. I'm working on a new method of install now, should take the installer down to 14MB and half the install time and maybe remove all traces on uninstall. Shame about the first post though saying it was malware. Seems to have killed of the interest abit!

Also, new link added.

  • 2 weeks later...

How would I do it manually? I have clean install and would hate to run WLM installer in it. I extracted Windows Live\Messenger folder from my last install backup image into Program Files and also sirenacm.dll into System32 dir. WLM launches but is unable to sign in. What else do I need to do?

    • BS, I've yet to run into a typical pc user that uses it at all, let alone half the population.

    • The site is pretty sparse on features / tech specs. Can I plug it into a PC/hone/Switch via USB-C and use it as an external display? If so, what's the virtual resolution of the screen, the refresh rate, PPI of the image etc? Is the text crisp enough to use for coding at say 12pt? Is it good enough for playing dark games, like say Path of Exile 2? How about fast games like car racing games? Just how do they expect anyone to order this thing without giving out all this info?
