GTX 285 Overclocking and Heat.

I am trying to OC my EVGA GTX 285 but i cant seem to get a clock of no higher than 690 on the core anything above my comp freezes. I have heard that temps can cause lower OC on a 285. I have a thermalright HR-03 GTX cooler on the card and i was able to squeze a little more of a clock out of it. I was just curious if i were to LC the card would it acheive a much higher clock? any help is appreciated thanks.

Do you have a fan attached to your HR-03 GTX? Running that cooler in passive isn't too great unless your case has amazing airflow. If not, I suggest you buy a 92 or 120mm fan and attach it to your GPU cooler. And if you already have a fan attached, try increasing fan speed.

What are your idle/load temperatures looking like?

I have a Delta 125CFM 120mm fan attached to the cooler. my idle temp is around 50 and my load is around mid 60's.

Does the mobo have anything to do with OCing a GFX card?

temps are only one part of overclocking a graphics card, some cards will hit insanely high clocks, some will only run at stock and any higher will lock up. It's just luck of the draw when it comes to GFX cards & overclocking.
