Looks nice but can't use it for the following reasons :-(

- Maximizing a window on my secondary monitor (have two) makes the title bar appear on the primary monitor and the rest of the window stays on the secondary (Secondary is located on the left of the primary)

- Manually resizing the window doesn't seem to work here in the corners (can only resize vertically or horizontally)

Would be a nice application though! Nice work!

Hooray, yet another program to try and make WinXP into something that it isn't.

Just a warning: don't direct-link to files on DeviantArt, they aren't a file host, and will remove your deviation when they find out.

thanks for the note , i removed the direct link

i didn't add a support for more multiply monitors , i will work on this for 0.3

and for the corner resizing , it is also going to be on 0.3

thanks man :)

Using it now. Maximized windows are cut off in the title bar, and of course a bit slow with .NET 2.0 but thanks!

Serious problem: The Start menu is skinned like a window and draws very slowly!

for the maximized problem , i will fix it 0.3

what i fixed startmenu problem before , how many times do i have to fix it  ?

okay can you tell me if you running xp or classic theme or another one ?

and if you are using Startmenu replacer (like ViStart) ?

thanks for the reporting :)

I'm using the Windows Classic visual style in XP Pro, with the standard Windows XP start menu.

I noticed a bit later that the taskbar has a "titlebar" too, its unusable!

oh crap , the same issue again , just one more question

does the taskbar or the startmenu is skinned after a while from the program

startup or after you run the program immediately and open startmenu ?

because it doesn't skin the taskbar neither the startmenu in xp or classic theme

anyway , i will fix this problem once and forever because it annoys me

Exclusion List upgraded in 0.3, you can now exclude programs by process name

and class name, and specify a skin for a certain window

  • 2 weeks later...

hi all

Developing is now active again (i finally took my vacation yesterday, working on it from since)

okay folks , i need your help

since i am going to change the name of the program I have been thinking about some names

but i can't get some thing catchy , current my option is WindowSkin (i wish that i could use WinSkin

instead but there's winskin.com) ,ExplorerSkin is suggested before but it is taken

SO PLEASE ANYONE THAT HAVE ANY NAME PLEASE POST IT :) BECAUSE I AM REALLY OUT OF IDEAS

Since i don't want to spend a week trying to find a name for the application rather than release it, here's what has been suggested :

Metallica Skin (MS) , Fraero (free aero) , Quiro (quick aero) , Aevo , GlassXP , Metallica Skin (MS) , Glass XP

Aero XP , XP-skin , Apptastic , PeanutSkin , TPWD (The Perfect Window Manger) , TUWD (The Ultimate Window Manger) , Diamond-XP , Glowy , GLOW (Glass Light On Windows) , WinBlur , WinDecorations , WinDecor , WinDecorSkin , SkinDecorations , SkinDecor , SkinFrame , WindowSkin , WinGBK (Windows Glass Blur) , WinBlurSkin , BlurSkin , WinBlurXP , BlurXP , Kskinner(Komalo skinner) , SkinWinnerK (komalo winner skin)

i came up with WinComposite and WinCrystal

And to tell you the truth, i am a little on "WinCrystal" side , so i am thinking about it as the name, if any one saw one of the other names will be more suitable

please suggest it now

I haven't searched very much so I don't know what is taken. The key with yours is that you're making XP glass/crystal/aero/blur so I'd suggest having XP in the name would be a good start as it will get the people you want to reach when it's in a list etc.

That will also help avoid Vista and 7 users who you don't want to waste the time of. Just a thought, like your work.

Is your skin compatible with Seven Remixed?

Hi Komalo!

WinCrystal sounds awesome!

TrueAero (True Transparency's rival)

I thought Vista and 7 already have glass/crystal/aero/blur , and their code is most superior , so i dont think users will search for such things

:)

Sorry everybody for the delay in replaying

i don't want to involve any kind of glass names in the name

because i don't want it to be only about blur

and i think border skin will work fine with SevenRemix

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
