Afrika announced for North America

Sony had showcased a very unique title several years ago during E3 2006 titled Afrika. Well, it's now 2009 and the title has seen a release elsewhere in the world but not in North America. That's all about to change.

Natsume will be bringing Afrika to North America later this year.

What is Afrika? Afrika is a photography simulator for the PS3. Players will take pictures of wildlife on the savanna and try to get the best pictures possible. You'll come across lions, zebra, and a variety of other wild animals. Don't go thinking this is just a walk in the zoo, either. Animals will attack you and inflict damage to you. So beware.

You can find more information about the game by reading IGN's Pre-E3 09 hands-on right here.

Although I barely scratched the surface of Afrika, this game looks like it has serious potential to win over a niche crowd. With more than 100 missions to pursue and plenty of animals to capture on film, Afrika is sure to be a welcome break from the standard shooter/action game fare we've seen so much of lately.

Looks great but I would definitely have to give it a try to see if I'm in the "niche" crowd or not. It definitely is different from the trend lately though as the article mentions. Why I get bad images of Pokemon Snap in my head, nobody will know though...

Wait, this is already out in PAL territories?

Can't have done too well! (who didn't see that coming)

It's only out in Japan/Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong version was fully English though I think which is why some imported.

Nah Pokemon Snap was a time before I would go online and check how to do something on a game. I remember going to school and wondering all day on how I could get that Magma to show its face etc. lol Oh dear.

A remake of Pokemon Snap would be awesome with a screenshot service like Halo 3, if Pokemon was still as popular, and if it was on a console with good graphics, but I guess that can't heppen. I suppose if Afrika let you put your screenshots on your pc it would actually be pretty sweet.

If they made another Pokemon Snap it would be best done like Afrika, NOT on rails.

I'm sure the first was on rails? Wasn't it?

It was also ridiculously short, but fun while it lasted.

    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
