Anyone notice if the tabs are on the bottom in the Windows version. Apple put them back on the bottom in the final version of the mac edition. Just after I got used to them on the top. Can't seem to find a way to enable it back on the top through Terminal

Apple obviously knows what's best for you. They know that "tabs on bottom" are far superior.

But seriously, no. Safari 4 has reverted to the old design model, and that applies to both the Mac and PC versions.

well, I just tried it

and I like it much more than previous version 3.

I'm happy that they've finally gave up with the lame mac font rendering, and now using cleartype.

Interface is now using native windows theme (aero) , and I guess no more stupid glitch because of the mac look.

I don't know how it would compare with google chrome (same rendering engine), but I think I have less reasons to choose google chrome over safari.

By the way, I see the tabs on top as expected.

Safari is a horrible browser. I don't know why anyone would use it.

Well, nobody asked you to come to this thread and complain about it, however *points at big Neowin logo at top of page* go click that shiny button and let the adults talk in peace.

I tried it in Windows 7 and it the only browser I have found that is slower than IE.

Fast on my rig, then again Safari is based heavily around multi-threading now, make sure you've got a multi-core processor or it will be slower.

why bother? ie 8 is faster and more secure. looks like a rehash of chrome if you ask me ;)

http://www.imgdash.com/uploads/76aea_benchmark.png <-- you sure about that mate?

IE8 is well known at being the SLOWEST browser currently available.

I've been using it for a little bit now and I have to say a lot of people are being really critical. I find it to be extremely fast, it's faster then firefox on my connection, the rendering is quick and I have to say I'm really impressed with this!

well, I'm using it now and I have to say, it's very smooth, fast and stable. Don't like chrome anymore, too much issues with it on Windows 7.

I always switch browsers, currently have FF, IE8 and Safari but might forget FF for this. Will always use IE8 though, because of how it's implemented in windows 7. But than again, safari does this too, all the tabs are previewed in windows 7. Might actually use this a lot than.

Haha, typical apple, bashing windows 7 too hell but altering their browser so it uses all the features of windows 7.

    • It's expensive, but I bet it will still sell out just like the Steam Deck and the Steam Controller
    • This is listed as a preview in WU for me. I usually don't grab them as previews; what's your opinion on it so far?
