Hello,

So before I left on my vacation (now I am back), I had reformatted my computer. I have a Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

While I was on my vacation I had an idea. To neowinize my desktop. Like customize it but instead neowinize it.

So I am thinking of opening like 10 topics each with different stuff and then neowinizing my desktop.

So the topics would be like:

1. Theme

2. Appearance

3. Docks

4. What else?

5. What prgorams (as not to overload) and all... Or something...

So what all do you look at while customizing your desktop?

Also, with each topic I will choose the top 4 recommendations and then have a poll. Now one question was, should I start all the topics in this forum or in the various other forums.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Crazysah

With Windows 7 coming, I don't really know why you would want a Dock config. Having used Windows's 3rd party docks and Windows 7's Superbar, I can attest the latter is the best.

As for the theme, that is a problem if you are using Vista. I can't point a very good theme for Vista.

I think that it's save to say that everyone would believe that you want to make your desktop "Neowin" branded if you say "Neowinize". To ask everyone on Neowin to help with searching wallpapers, icons, visual styles etc. is kinda hard since everyone has their own tastes.

Have a look at this: Clearscreen Themes for Vista. It's one of the best skins currently released for Vista.

I get what you are saying but that is not exactly what I want.

I just want a few things before I upgrade to Windows 7 in December or so.

I want a dock, a theme (if a good one), a wallpaper, a clean desktop, some styles/themes for the programs... Just a few things to make my desktop look snazzier. Like all the ones in the desktop thread in the general discussion forum.

^That's what I meant. You want everyone to pitch in and tell you which theme is nice etc :p That's kinda hard since everyone has their own taste in that stuff. So really, it's up to you want you want to use etc.

I think you've already got an idea about how you want your desktop to look. Why not try the stuff out from the Desktop Thread? Most of them just use the default Aero visual style with a random wallpaper.

Also, there have been numerous of threads from people asking others to tell them what to use. It's really hard for others to decide that for said reason. It's a nice idea to let everyone pitch in but it's also hard if you ask me :)

    • The level of stupidity at Google and Microsoft is beyond belief. All they are doing by killing this is forcing people to jump over to Firefox and ditch them all together, therefore giving Firefox the market boost it needs to finally crush them all in the end.
