The most advanced, fastest and complete browser ever to be made. Opera 10, of course. ;)

Also use Firefox and lynx.

Two things really annoyed me with Opera 10, on Windows -

1) There is no 'private browsing'-type mode.

2) You cannot hide the menu-bar.

Those two issues really do make me disagree when people say it is the most complete browser out there, whilst I admired many of the features some other browsers don't have. Also, I did have some speed issues with it, even when I had Turbo mode set to 'automatic'.

Another thing - Why does the 'find' feature still bring up another dialog box/window, when it gets in the way of viewing the page with the results shown? Other browsers like Chrome, Safari and Firefox have incorporated this in a non-intrusive way.

A question about widgets - are they anything like extensions? I couldn't seem to find any which implemented themselves into the browser, itself. The ones I saw, on the official website, acted as seperate from the browser and I only found things like a seperate ruler or a facebook widget which showed your news feed etc; useful if you don't have a gadget for it on the Windows desktop, but I couldn't find any widgets which actually extended the functionality of the browser or provided user interface tweaks. Are there any?

I use Chrome as my main browser. I want to switch to a browser with more features+extensions but it seems that none look as good as chrome.

If I were to switch, it would be to Firefox. I already use Firefox when Chrome is incompatible with a website.

1) That option is not present in Opera yet. It has been requested a lot of times so it shouldn't take long to be implemented.

2) Yes you can. Press ALT + F11.

Opera Turbo uses compression and a server that acts as a proxy (“Opera Web Optimization Proxy”), the speed issues could be related with the proxy server and not the browser itself. It's a new feature and will certainly be target of improvements.

Must agree, a definitive improvement there. The search box should be inside the browser UI and not floating around.

Those are what they are called, "widgets", not extensions. Opera widgets are meant to be used on the desktop, not inside the browser.

Opera "comes with batteries". It follows a different philosophy from other browsers (like Firefox) who extend the browsing experience with extensions. Opera sees it differently and provides everything needed for browsing, along with the inclusion of advanced options that the user can customize to his likings.

It takes some time to acclimatize to it, when coming from other browsers that do it differently. But once you do you will find that Opera is indeed the World's most advanced browser.

As for this, you can make it so that when you press Ctrl+F it uses the search box rather than a new dialog box by enabling this option: opera:config#UserPrefs|UseIntegratedSearch

i still use ie7 because of ie7 pro, i have tried to use ie8 but the loading times of new tabs is beyond a joke (there is no spybot installed) and i want to use ie8 but i also want the drag and drop feature , download from youtube feature and most important feature i want from ie7 pro is the add blocker!! if i could have those 3 features i would switch to ie8 right away. also i have tried chrome but kaspersky av 2009 stopped it due to trojan like activity (screen shot if needed)

1 You could set it to delete or not accept cookies and to delete the cache (theres an option to turn cache off as well) when you close Opera not sure if thats what you want.

2 If you open opera:config then type menu in the search box theres an option which allows you to disable the menu bar.

3 if you press . (full stop) it should open a little search window in the bottom left corner.

Thanks for all the tips, guys :) I really like Opera 10 so if I can get past those gripes, by doing those tweaks, then I may end up using it as my default browser. It is very advanced!

I think you're right Frank. When I think about it, most of the extensions I use in Firefox and most of the features I'd like in a web browser are already implemented into Opera, by default (and then some).

I just really wish there was a way to get Opera or Firefox's 'find' features to be as nice as Safari 4's, where it makes the page darker and highlights the results with that nice yellow curved bubble. There's an extension for Firefox which does this to some extent, but not as nicely and of course, there wouldn't be a way to get Opera to behave like this, I bet? :/

Not to my knowledge no, but I guess you have to make some compromises when you browse, I go for the browser that to me has the best overall feature set, that doesn't mean there aren't some bits that I would like to change but overall I still love the way Opera works

You're absolutely right :) It annoys me that I can't have everything I want in a browser, but I will have to weigh up the pros and cons of each...
