A number of Twitter (Twitter) users spoke out on Friday against a Comic-Con contest hosted by Electronic Arts that some say objectifies women. In short, the ?Sin to Win? contest, designed to promote Dante?s Inferno, encourages attendees to take photos with the so-called ?booth babes? and Tweet the photos to the @danteteam Twitter account with the hashtag #lust.

It?s the wording of the contest that has Twitter up in arms, however: attendees are told to ?Commit Acts of Lust? (see image below), which some allege is a recipe for sexual harassment. Others argue that attendees typically take photos with booth babes regardless. @danteteam did receive hundreds of responses to their request, but many are negative and critical of the behavior the contest might encourage.

In response to the Tweets, the team behind the promotion posted an apology on Twitpic saying the campaign is ?tongue in cheek?. Opponents, however, seem unimpressed, and have combined their efforts using the hashtag #eafail.

Comic-Con International takes over the gas lamp quarter of san diego. While Wedneday brought the rumor that 2010 Comic-Con International's Preview Night would move up from Wednesday to Tuesday here in San Diego, today comes the rumor that the convention might be leaving San Diego altogether.

Word is going around that the popular entertainment world will descend on Los Angeles next year, leaving the San Diego Convention Center behind.

It's not the first time this possibility has been raised, but the sheer and ever-growing size of the convention is making it look more likely.

The movie studios and TV networks run Comic-Con now, and they'd rather schlep their mega-displays, merchandise and stars across town in LA than down the I-5 to San Diego. And, the LA Convention Center is big enough to take the Comic-Con load.

But, factors in San Diego's favor include ample nearby hotel space and an adjacent Gaslamp Quarter providing plenty of places to eat and party. While downtown LA has been coming back in recent years, you're still more likely to be accosted than well-fed around that convention center.

Since the word is out, you can assume the San Diego city reps will go to war to save this massive boon to San Diego's summer economy. And, LA-weary showbiz types like coming down here.

    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.

    • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
