I don't think that Fringe is the best episode on TV. The filler episodes can be ludicrous and annoying. However, this episode really kicked ass. Loved every second of it, including the brilliant title scene.

I just watched this episode, and I have to agree. One of the best [if not THE best] episodes yet! Loved John Noble's performance. I'm glad we finally get to see the story of Walternate [lol] and Peter. The series needs more like this.

Oh, and the opening theme was amazing! Love what they did to it.

Just out of idle curiosity, back in the season one episode where Walter was stuck back at the mental hospital, he had a visit from himself which I attributed to his mental instability at the time. Could it have been Walternate? Far fetched, I know, but possible?

You must be talking about episode 8 of season 1 titled "The Equation". If I remember correctly, Walter had a vision of himself and he said something along the lines of "Welcome back, Walter." He also saw him another time outside of the mental institution. I distinctly remember the other Walter looking cleaner and almost younger than Walter-Prime (the Walter in the universe where Peter died). It could be the other Walter but it makes you wonder why he didn't come back earlier to retrieve Peter. Perhaps he already tried and Walter-Prime hasn't remembered it yet. Of course, I realize this is mere speculation - but hey, maybe it's what the writers want us to assume.
