Avatar 3D Team Doing Resident Evil: Afterlife

ShockTillYouDrop.com spoke with actress Milla Jovovich earlier today and got as much information out of her as possible about her plans to return to the "Resident Evil" franchise with fiance/director Paul W.S. Anderson. One little hint she dropped was that Anderson had signed a deal with James Cameron's 3D team, who are currently doing the anticipated Avatar, to handle the 3D duties on the fourth installment.

You can read everything that she had to say about Resident Evil: Afterlife, which starts shooting in September, over on ShockTillYouDrop.com.

Milla Jovovich is promoting The Perfect Getaway, but is also talking about Resident Evil 4: Afterlife, which starts shooting later this year. She has confirmed that her husband, Paul WS Anderson, will direct as well as produce, and that he?s reasearching 3D techniques in order to shoot this chapter in the format. She?s also given a bit of info about what we?ll be likely to see, storywise, and it sounds like Jovovich will be busy, if nothing else. Why? ?The clones are definitely in it,? she tells Bloody Dis?Let?s just say this. The clones are definitely in it. You?ve got multiple Alice?s kicking serious butt. And definitely the real Alice has some pretty major things happen to her that change the stakes a little bit. That?s probably all I can give you in a vague sort of way. It?s definitely going to be a different Alice than who we?re used to?There?s the clones and it?s going to be a lot of work. I?m gonna be working every day for the next four months on this and it?s gonna be bigger than ever. It?s super-exciting.?an ever. It?s super-exciting.?

For the 3D work, Anderson is going with the folks that brought James Cameron?s Avatar into the third dimension. Avatar is always a good name to drop these days, especially when you?re focusing on the tech side of things, but that doesn?t really mean anything beyond the fact that, yes, the new Resident Evil will be in 3D.

I do like Jovovich?s statement about making the film; it?s easy to look down on another Resident Evil movie (I?ve certainly done so, and probably will again) but there?s always the business angle to consider. For whatever reason, these movies make money. ?You know what, every two years I get a steady job and as an actor [and] that?s a huge relief. Then I get to do all my little independent movies that no one sees. I get more versatile things for myself.? Boilerplate ?one for them, one for me? angle, sure, but valid nonetheless.

Boris Kodjoe, who stars in the upcoming Surrogates and was previously seen in Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion, has joined Milla Jovovich in Screen Gems' Resident Evil: Afterlife. He revealed the casting on his Twitter account:

In Toronto meeting with the director of my new movie 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' Very exciting!!! Lots of stunts, shooting guns, monsters...

That director is Paul W.S. Anderson (who is married to Jovovich). Anderson directed the first film in the franchise and wrote and produced the other two.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is scheduled to hit theaters on August 27, 2010.

Man, she ages well! So much hotter than in Fifth Element.

Or is that just a good Photoshop job?

You should check out her recent Purple Magazine Shoot :shifty:

that's all I will say on that! :p

Wentworth Miller Joins Cast!

Surrogates actor Boris Kodjoe has spilled more beans about Resident Evil: Afterlife after announcing last week on his Twitter account that he is part of the cast.

Talking to BlackFilm.com he revealed that Ali Larter will be back as Claire Redfield and that "Prison Break's" Wentworth Miller is on board as well. Here are several clips on the story:

Boris Kodjoe: I play the leader of the survivors in LA. Milla Jovovich?s character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and she?s wound up in LA, which has been burning for three years. She comes across an LA jail surrounded be these half-dead, uhh?

Zombies?

Boris Kodjoe: Yeah, they?re those monsters, what are they called? Anyway, she comes across the jail and there?s a couple of survivors and she lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. We?re trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety. We?re starting next week, actually.
