Started Shooting!

The next RESIDENT EVIL movie, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE has kicked off shooting in Toronto, Canada. Screen Gems announced the shoot in a release.

Actress Milla Jovovich returns as the zombie-fighting heroine Alice. Ali Larter reprises her role as Claire Redfield from Resident Evil: Extinction. Spencer Locke, who played K-Mart in "Extinction," is also set to return. New to the film franchise is leading man Wentworth Miller, who has signed on as Chris Redfield - Claire's brother and a popular character from the game series. Shawn Roberts will take over the role of Alice's nemesis Wesker. Boris Kodjoe and Kim Coates have also been cast.

Paul WS Anderson will be writing, directing and producing the movie, which means that he takes the reigns for the first time since the 2000 original. It also means that he is directing his new bride Milla in the flick... The new film will be shot and released in 3-D.

Before the Resident Evil franchise is, rightfully, rebooted, we're going to have one more foray into the half-assed world of clones, superpowers and convoluted, half-baked ideas courtesy of Paul W.S. Anderson. Read on for a full cast list and plot breakdown.

Sony Screen Gems has announced that Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Norman Yeung and Kacey Barnfield will join up alongside returning cast members Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter and Spencer Locke to battle legions of the undead. Miller will play Chris Redfield, brother of Claire (Larter) and badass member of S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team. Shawn Roberts will play Albert Wesker, a rogue company man with powers that rival Alice's.

Thankfully, Mike Epps will remain dead.

Official Synopsis:

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Yeah, so did I.

Man, I wish they would just reboot the entire series and port the game over 100%... they're good enough to be movies by themselves.

Don't get me wrong, I like (sorta) these movies, but I think Alice is just way to powerful... and it bugs me that when they introduce ACTUAL characters from the games they make them weak and crappy....

just my .02 though

Yeah, so did I.

Well after the next movie they are rebooting it with a new outlook at the series

So, if they know their going to reboot the franchise, will Afterlife have a proper ending? Or will it end in another cliffhanger that will never span out?

Yeah I would assume it will end with a good end to the story

Beauty queen Milla Jovovich is currently up in Toronto returning once again as Alice in Sony Screen Gems' Resident Evil: Afterlife, which is being helmed by Paul W.S. Anderson for 3-D release on August 27, 2010. This morning she began to tweet from set. "wow, just finished a scene with Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller on a skiff approaching the huge ship.to say its cold is a joke.a bitter joke," she writes adding, "ofcourse Ali and I aren't wearing much and to make matters worse Wenty is driving the boat himself and crashing it repeatedly! lol!" You can keep up with Milla by clicking here.

The second one was the only one that felt anything like the game series at all.

An army of Alice clones? I'm sure there will be better to spend my 9 dollars on.

Here's hoping the reboot follows the game series a little more closely and it's a *horror* franchise. They should call it Biohazard to disassociate itself from the current RE series.

I like the old games much better than the last 2 movies and if they got back to the actual game story it would be better also.

Although, I would be happy if they made a 30 Min slideshow of Milla with a pic of a random Zombie or RE game character alternating :)

Speaking of this, I think Capcom should just make another RE CGI movie like with Degradation, I liked RE5 as well but after the events in that I have to wonder if the original plot/story is now over, but I doubt that.

More Leon and Ada plz.

Milla Jovovich has been keeping awfully busy on the set of Resident Evil: Afterlife. Besides acting as the lead on the flick, she's been posting frequent Twitter updates as to what's going on at the shoot, now lensing in Toronoto.

"One of the scenes we're shooting today is the last scene in the movie and the guys had to invent something that could take a 3d camera that high and far," she Tweeted this morning. "The technology we're using is all so new and cutting edge that you can't just buy rigs premade to get the shots we want! Its so exciting though, to think that we're inventing things on this movie that will probably be standard in 5 years time!"

Later, she continued with "I fly a small aircraft in this film and they did a shot of it landing on the boat we're on the night before last and get this, all the people who live in the skyscrapers around the harbor phoned 911 reporting a plane crash on the ship! how rad! they got HUNDREDS of call!"

Apparently things are coming along nicely according to this later Tweet, "So cool! (Director) Paul (W.S. Anderson) just told us the dailys from the last few days look INCREDIBLE!!! (dailys is the latest footage that's been shot already)"

Most recently, she wrote, "They were of the big action sequence with Alice and Claire fighting THE EXECUTIONER who in reality is an 8 ft. tall heavy weight boxer! He has a HUGE axe and we're in a prison shower, so every time he swings the axe, showers explode! So thru the whole scene its literally raining! so beautiful!"

The next chapter, being lensed in 3-D, find Paul W.S. Anderson returning to the director's chair working from his own script. Spencer Locke, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Kim Coates, Norman Yeung and Kasey Barnfield co-star. More when we hear it.

STYD

Milla Jovovich is still Tweeting from the set of this movie, and among other things, she explains that her new costume includes a leather gun harness and a "butt bra." And those mysterious figures in all white are "Pod People," who've been subjected to horrific Umbrella Corp. experiments. [ShockTillYouDrop]
