Valentine to Return in Resident Evil: Afterlife?

Paul W.S. Anderson promised fans a few familiar faces would definitely be returning for Resident Evil: Afterlife. Ali Larter has returned as Claire Redfield, then there is Spencer Locke's K-Mart. From the video game series? Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller) and Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts).

Well, how about Jill Valentine? That's right. Star Milla Jovovich dropped a Tweeter via her Twitter account earlier today that said: "Valentine MAY be back."

We haven't seen that character on the screen since Sienna Guillory played her in Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Insiders told me during Resident Evil: Extinction's production that Guillory didn't return over contract disputes. Is the actress back or have they re-cast Valentine? We'll see.

Jovovich also had something to say about Afterlife's undead today. "The zombie makeup is exceptionally good now, they're rocking it over at prosthetics. But depending on the zombie and what happens to them, sometimes they add stuff to them in post."

Fans of Milla Jovovich's Twitter updates on Resident Evil: Afterlife got a surprise yesterday when the actress switched to video blogs. Today, she posted the following video where you'll find the RE crew in a Toronto field that serves as an airplane graveyard (a plane figures prominently in one of the film's action set pieces). Filming is nearly complete on the Paul Anderson-directed 3D entry, opening in 2D and 3D theaters on August 27, 2010.

The second one was the only one that felt anything like the game series at all.

An army of Alice clones? I'm sure there will be better to spend my 9 dollars on.

Here's hoping the reboot follows the game series a little more closely and it's a *horror* franchise. They should call it Biohazard to disassociate itself from the current RE series.

I agree.

I can only stand the first movie. I would perhaps get to enjoy it more if it was dissasociated from the RE franchise and considered as just another zombie movie. The second one felt a bit closer to RE as they added a couple of familiar characters, but I completely discarded it when Nemesis and Alice were about to kiss.

So, no Leon S. Kennedy yet, eh?

By looking at the posts here, I'm guessing that it's only true RE fans that actually hate these awful Hollywood-sanctioned movies.

Resident Evil: Afterlife Pushed Back To 2011

Those of you who are looking forward to the fourth installment in the Resident Evil franchise, entitled Resident Evil: Afterlife, will have to wait a while longer before you get to see it. Shock Till You Drop has learned that studio Screen Gems has pushed back the fourth Resident Evil from its originally planned release date of August 27th, 2010, until January 14th, 2011. That’s almost five more months without a new Resident Evil movie in all our lives…

…However will we survive?! :p

So why has the studio delayed the fim? Well, if you’ve been following the news about it, you’ll know Resident Evil 4 is being done in 3D (it was only a matter of time…) by none other than the team that worked on James Cameron’s Avatar. If nothing else it should make the movie worth watching just to see if it even comes close to matching how the technology was employed in Cameron’s hyped-up sci-fi blockbuster.

Those involved with Afterlife have realized the film – currently shooting – will need a lot more post-production work for the 3D aspect, so they’ve given director Paul W.S. Anderson (not to be confused with There Will Be Blood maestro, Paul T. Anderson) a few more months to finish the movie (like all directors, I bet he’ll be glad to have that extension). The studio has moved up the release of the Paul Bettany comic book action-horror, Priest, to fill that late summer slot once occupied by Resident Evil 4.

An interesting thing that Shock Till You Drop points out about this news, is that Afterlife will now be competing with the Joss Whedon-produced horror film, The Cabin in the Woods, which was also delayed (for almost a year) because it’s being done in 3D. They’re both set to be released on the same day and appeal to a lot of the same audiences: I’m going to guess that if either of them is going to be moved from that January 14th date, it’ll be Whedon’s flick. The Resident Evil franchise is just much more bankable than a film like The Cabin in the Woods, which general audiences have never heard of.

Sony Screen Gems has shifted Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D back to September of this year after being pushed back to 2011 last month. The studio announced that Alice will be back in action on September 10, 2010, two weeks earlier than originally planned! Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, in a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

BD

So did they ditch the plot line where she was going to Japan or where ever it was with her army of clones at the end of Extinction?

it's looking like it but expect some kind of resolution against Wesker in this film because after this its reboot time! *rolls eyes*

I think Japan and Alaska.

The quotes up the page some say LA though. Either way I'm looking forward to the movie but I was kind of hoping to see some ninja zombies or something. They made them smarter, so why can't they be ninjas, too?

Ninja zombies in 3D...

sounds like a b-movie you'd find in blockbusters in a bargain bin :p

Yeah, I thought that after I posted it. But after they created the "smarter" zombies in Extinction what else could they do? Super super zombies?

Don't get me wrong though, I love all the Resident Evil movies so far though.

I've been thinking of getting a blu-ray player but I don't particularly enjoy the thought of buying all my movies over again in Blu-ray. Though I suppose I could just get new movies in blu ray though.

I only had the first on DVD so thought why not

    • Are they marketed as an entry into astronomy or astrophotography? I do astrophotography. With big rigs, lots of computers, cables and headaches. I love it. And by learning this ridiculously complex hobby, I’ve learned about the objects I’m shooting. Astronomy followed from photography.
    • Microsoft confirms Recycle Bin bug across all versions of Windows by Usama Jawad A couple of days ago, we reported that the latest Patch Tuesday update has seemingly resulted in a lot of issues for many users, including OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, and BSODs. Although Microsoft is yet to acknowledge these bugs, it has confirmed another, relatively smaller issue across all supported versions of Windows. In an update on its Windows Release Health Dashboard, Microsoft has confirmed that after installing June's Patch Tuesday update (KB5094126), you'll experience unexpected behavior when leveraging Recycle Bin. Basically, when you attempt to delete an item from the Recycle Bin, the confirm dialog will show you the internal file name of that content rather than the actual name. For example, the file may be named abc.png, but the confirm dialog will ask if you're sure that you want to permanently delete $Rxxxxx.png from the Recycle Bin. This is pretty much it for the scope of the bug itself; it just displays the wrong name in the confirm dialog. The correct name will be shown in the list view of the Recycle Bin and if you restore the file, it will return with the correct name as well. This issue affects pretty much all supported versions of Windows client and server, including: Client: Windows 11, version 26H1; Windows 11, version 25H2; Windows 11, version 24H2; Windows 11, version 23H2; Windows 10, version 22H2; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 Server: Windows Server 2025; Windows Server 2022; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server 2016; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2012 As things currently stand, Microsoft is working on a concrete solution that will be released in a "future" Windows update. It remains to be seen if the firm will wait till the next Patch Tuesday or roll out an out-of-band (OOB) fix. The good news is that commercial customers can deploy a workaround right now, but they will have to reach out to Microsoft Support for Business for additional details.
    • They said by this time everyone will have flying cars. WELL...
    • A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. Maybe not as we now know that time can flow backwards.
    • Of course. Simply reverse the polarity.
