[Rumor] Worgen and Goblin new races in next WoW Expansion?

Recommended Posts

Goblins and Worgens are the new races of the Expansion

I like catchy titles. In the last PTR build 4 new textures of Halloween masks have been added.

  • 2 of them are for Goblins masks - Helm_Mask_Halloween_GoF and Helm_Mask_Halloween_GoM
  • 2 of them are for Worgens masks - Helm_Mask_Halloween_WoF and Helm_Mask_Halloween_WoM

Even if the Goblin texture would make sense as an addition to the game, adding Worgens texture out of nowhere is definitely a sign that the 2 new races of the expansion will be the Worgens (most likely for the Alliance) and the Goblins.

I know that a lot of people will love to argue with that over hundreds of replies. I would just like to add that it usually takes a lot to make me post something on the front page and I don't think I've ever been wrong everytime I did. Hopefully Blizzard will react fast enough and add tons of new masks in the next build just to pretend that it was intended. (Suggestion: Pandarens please)

Now before you go all "what the hell does this guy know" and blah blah about rumors - just remember this guy has gotten every major story about WoW right including everything in the past 2 expansions and alot of added content. He only posts stuff when he knows something is up, so it's very likely (though not certain obviously) that Blizzwill announce either a new expansion for WoW with these 2 new races at Blizzcon in a few weeks or at the very least something to do with these two races being added to the game in some way as playable races.

Or not. Who knows :D

WOTLK hasn't even been out a year yet, there's no way there's coming out with a new xpac this soon. maybe next christmas I can see it but they have a little more tie to milk wotlk especially since Icecrown doesn't seem to be anywhere near coming out.

I think it's just some Halloween masks they made, it doesn't mean they are making Goblins and Worgen playable.

The masks have been, since vanilla, reserved for the playable races. Why put so much effort in to model a mask?

I'm assuming then the horde will get Goblins and the Alliance Worgen. Since the 'Worgen' use to be part of the human alliance in the past before shouting "FFS NOOBS" and closing the gate.

Actually, if you look at Wrath it was announced about a year (or a little more) before it came out and there was only two years between BC and Wrath so Blizzcon this year makes quite a bit of sense.

Looks like Shrek and Fiona to me, and the other two do not look anything like Worgen. Those are cats. I think it's just some Halloween masks they made, it doesn't mean they are making Goblins and Worgen playable.

In the model files they're actually labeled "WoF" and "WoM" which is most likely Worgen Female and Worgen Male respectively. Source

Correct, just saw a post over at mmo-champ which was rather a good idea tbh. Making the two zones for the faction neutral till the end of the quest chain where you pick a side either horde or alliance.

This wouldn't sound so ridiculous if it wasn't for the fact they are letting you migrate, for a lack of a better word, to the other side in a later patch.

If they started in the same area, then they would prob be speaking the same language. Wouldn't that cause issues once they chose a faction since they still knew the same language? IIRC theres supposed to be a language barrier. Unless you magically unlearned that language and instead learned the orc or common language once you chose.

I think you misunderstood me.

Goblins would likely start in the Undermine somewhere and the Worgen behind the Greymane Wall.

I'd heard talk of Worgen being a playable race but this is the first evidence I've seen.

That would be very cool. And if they're neutral races (where you choose at the end of the starting area)... even better :D

Let this happen... I hope they touch up the graphics for Worgen and Goblin though, in their current state it'd be horrible to play as. The animations for worgen are kinda stiff, just look at SFK.

Like, how they redid the High Elf / Blood Elf graphics when BC was released.

Yeah, I'm sure they well. Those masks even look better

Worgen City would be the area south of the Greymane Wall in silverpine forest. Also, I'm pretty sure both factions would not have access to both races only because that would make cross faction communication possible (if it didn't then that would be even more stupid).

Yep. It would likely be Gilneas (http://www.wowwiki.com/Gilneas), as that is rumored to have been overrun by Worgen.

Another "small clue" about something happening behind Greymane Wall is that the ship route from Theramore to Menethil no longer crosses over where Gilneas should be on the map.

Can't stand such takes as Spotify's: "Spotify's CEO recently pushed back against listeners who call AI music "slop," urging people to stop using the term and instead embrace the creative potential of AI music."

    • Microsoft Teams gets smarter at spotting sneaky meeting bots by Usama Jawad Microsoft Teams is set to receive a couple of new features soon, including a dedicated Recap app and a rather controversial location tracking functionality. The Redmond tech giant has also explained how it has made online communication and collaboration a lot more performant this year. Now, the company has detailed more secure bot admission mechanisms, as first reported by us in March 2026, and now available in Teams. As the use of AI has expanded across enterprise environments, Microsoft has begun allowing users to integrate bots into their meetings for various tasks, such as note-taking. While this has a tangible productivity benefit for users, Microsoft has highlighted how misconfiguration has allowed bots to join meetings that they shouldn't. This has created security and privacy risks, which Microsoft is now combating using a new Teams admin policy that allows organizers to control how external bots access meetings. Admins can leverage a policy called Manage external bots and their access to meetings. The default configuration is "When detected, require approval before joining", which places detected bots in a lobby before they are explicitly admitted into the meeting. The other option disables the experience. Microsoft has also requested admins to only allow organizers and co-organizers to manage access to a meeting, so that other people don't randomly allow bots into meetings. Teams will now be able to leverage infrastructure signals to intelligently detect and distinguish between bots and humans. Microsoft will soon also trial a registration experience for independent software vendors (ISVs) to build a system that registers a bot with Microsoft, so it is marked as a "known" bot. Teams will also categorize bots as trusted and suspected threats so that organizers can quickly identify which bots they want to allow into a meeting. Additional safeguards to block accidental admission of a bot into a meeting include: No one-click Admit option for identified bots Confirmation prompts when admitting participants that include bots Warnings when organizers choose Admit all, and bots are included Microsoft has begun rolling out this experience, and it will be retiring the current CAPTCHA verification implementation. In the future, the company plans to roll out new capabilities like allow-lists, organization-wide policies, admin reports, audit logs, and more granular controls.
    • With the current hardware prices Microsoft should lift the restriction. Then if you have the correct TPM then allow you to use X feature, if you don't have the correct TPM then don't but still actually let you run windows. 11. With a disclaimer during install that X features would be unavailable.
