If this show wasn't in its last season I would probably stop watching, it was another meh episode.

What the Island Is: For a couple weeks now, I've been teasing that a four-letter word will be used to describe the island. It has an O, and no A's or E's. Your final clue is this: You'll learn that word next week! Episode number nine is Richard Alpert's (Nestor Carbonell) backstory and it is not to be missed.

What else you need to know (Spoilers ahead!):

- Someone we have not yet met will have an important message for Hurley next week.

- Fake Locke is going to tell Jin how he plans to get off the island, and it's pretty juicy!

- There is a "package" up ahead that might be the most butterfly-inducing reveal so far this season.

It seems to me, that you only care about getting answers, rather than actually enjoying the story itself.

I haven't been tuning in for 6 seasons not to get answers so yeah I expect some answers but I for one dont care about the side flash forwards, dunno the last few episodes I have not liked at all...I have been looking forward to Richards story so yeah lets hope it lives to the billing!

It was an okay episode, kinda slow paced and I could see what was going to happen before it happened...

But its all about next weeks episode, been looking forward to this since I first heard about it last year! The ABC and CTV Previews only show like 4 seconds new footage! :D

I loved last night's episode so much and here's why

The past few "Temple" episodes have been getting real stale for me. It's pretty indicative to why I didn't enjoy the first half of season 3 as well. It raised a curtain to a mystery we've been anticipating for, and once that curtain's been raised, the man behind it isn't what I was expecting at all. And the narrative behind the temple episodes could have been summed up on less than one episode.

This episode marked a migration from the temple episodes to start the momentum towards the finale. Plus I hear it's the last flash-sideways in the series.

I loved the flash sideways for a few reasons:

- You see how dynamic of an actor Josh Holloway really is

- If you recall in the season premiere, Sawyer sees kate in cuffs in the elevator, but allows her to escape from the cops. In this episode you learn Sawyer is a cop! And at the end, you see him apprehend the same person he let go, giving the appearance that they are still somehow drawn to each other

- Sawyer giving up the motivation of revenge by watching Little House

- Miles is an awesome partner

- Cameos by Charlie's brother & Charlotte

With everything going on in the sideways timeline, I'm starting to realize that this isn't the timeline if the "Incident" didn't happen at all...this is the timeline that would have existed if Jacob didn't exist at all.

And as far as the Island parts

- Locke telling Kate his mother was crazy... This is a HUGE reveal/foreshadowing in the show. The viewer can take this one of 2 ways: If the viewer believes Locke is an ancient mythological figure, they can try to do their research into who had a crazy mother. BUUUT, now this might sound crazyy....BUUUT Locke can also be referring that he himself is Aaron. They have yet to reveal Locke's real name, and this might be the reason why.

- Sayid did nothing to help Kate when Claire attacked her. Can the infection be real after all? Is the infection what killed the other people in the Hydra island?

- In the previous episode, Locke told Ben to meet him at the Hydra station. I have a feeling Locke already knows Widmore is there and told Ben to go there in order for him to get killed. Maybe he did the same for Sawyer? Can Locke AND Widmore be in cahoots and both of them are trying to con Sawyer when Sawyer thinks he's conning them?

So yeah, those are the main reasons why I enjoyed this episode so much. And I'm so stoked for the Richard episode next week.

"This Island...everything you see...isn't really what you think it is."

Goddammit. I want it to be next week already.

I don't think Locke and Widmore are in cahoots. Widmore has defenses against smokey so he knows he can't be touched. That's why Locke needed to recruit people to fight and he's given them something to fight for. They need the plane and Widmore clearly isn't gonna let anyone stroll up on Hydra and do as they please. You might be right about Ben although it could be that he was Locke's #1 choice to go over and scope out the Widmore situation since he does have a way with manipulating people.

    • Rufus alternative Ventoy now supports Windows 11's mandatory update, fixes major boot bug by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has its own official Media Creation Tool used for making bootable USB media, there are some popular third-party utilities as well which offer additional options like bypassing system requirements, Microsoft Account creation, and more. One of these is Ventoy, and the software has received its latest update today. In fact, the app actually got a slew of updates over the last couple of days, three version releases in total, to be specific. The first release, version 1.1.13, was pulled as there was some unspecified error in the update, and as such, the corrected version 1.1.14 was pushed out. Following that on very short notice, 1.1.15 was published as well. For those unfamiliar, Ventoy is an open-source utility that lets users create a bootable USB drive once and then simply copy ISO, WIM, IMG, VHD, or EFI files onto it without repeatedly formatting the drive. It supports both legacy BIOS and UEFI boot modes, Secure Boot, and a wide range of operating systems, making it one of the most versatile tools in the category. The biggest change in version 1.1.14 is an updated Secure Boot shim file aimed at resolving the UEFI CA 2023 issue, which is basically a compatibility problem that has affected Secure Boot environments on some systems. If you recall, we reported about severe boot issues on HP devices following the release of updated Secure Boot 2023 keys. For anyone who may not be aware, back in early 2024, Microsoft announced that it was updating Secure Boot keys as they were going to become 15 years old in 2026, which is also when they are set to expire. As such, the new 2023 certificates have been rolling out with the newest Windows 11 updates. Updated boot manager and Secure Boot certificates are crucial for protection against malware like bootkits. These are mandatory updates. Alongside that, the VentoyPlugson graphical plugin configurator was updated in sync with the release. The update also introduces a new VTOY_SECURE_BOOT_POLICY option within the Global Control plugin, giving users more flexibility in managing Secure Boot behavior. Ventoy has also received a fix for a startup issue when Secure Boot was disabled. Microsoft does officially allow users to boot systems without Secure Boot as long as the PC is Secure Boot capable. The full changelog is given below: Update secure boot shim file to solve the UEFI CA 2023 issue. The new release use a new CA, so you need to enroll the new key for the first boot time. VentoyPlugson update synchronously. Global control plugin add a VTOY_SECURE_BOOT_POLICY option. Fix the boot issue when Secure Boot is disabled in the UEFI firmware. You can download the latest version of the app here on Ventoy's official GitHub repo or from Neowin software stories.
    • Windows 11 is fine, no issues on any of the machines I've run it on since release. The stricter security requirements are a good thing, sometimes the baseline needs to change and people will winge, but it is what it is. Happened with the move from 9x to NT - broke compatability Happened with XP SP2 when security started to become a serious consideration Certainly happend with Vista that brought in UAC, the concept of not running as admin (something that has been the norm in Linux/Unix from pretty much the start) and a completely new driver stack. Windows 11 will probably get looked back at as the point where even consumer and SMB IT was dragged kicking and screaming into a somewhat secure by default configuration.
    • Bluestacks has been emulating Android on Windows for fifteen years. It's janky and riddled with ads though, so WSA looked like it was going to be a huge improvement over the emulator experience. Too bad Microsoft dropped the ball on that.
    • Classic. China would be nothing without Western, Japanese, and South Korean technology.
    • The world is larger then your small viewpoint. Plenty of scientists care about this, especially those involved in space.
