James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

Recommended Posts

Okay.

I watched it in HD.

Still kinda.. *shrug* .. I'll see it, but.. not.. overly impressed.

Granted.. I have more excitement for this than I did for GI Joe.. but.. this is kinda..

"Okay... what's to be so unbelievably hyped up about?"

I for one hyped about this more because we've never seen a movie like this before.

And, I also think why some people don't get used to this Alien world created from imagination, not trying to make it look like something you already familar with.

I have a lot of imaginations, and this is right in my alley.... I can't stand District 9 because it looked TOO Earthly with Insect-looking Alien, :p

Also, a lot of people were complaing Star Wars alien world look fake too...

Of course, it's NOT real! It doesn't exist, have any people ever been to Geonosis, Felucia, Kamino, etc?

Then, HOW do you know that's not how Aliens there look like?

People find stuff weird, anytime they are not familar with it.

Familiarity is OVERRATED!!!

Anyway

Looks like more of Cameron's 'lookie-what-I-can-do!' crap. All style, no substance. I guess it's great for people that want to go to a movie and shut down their brain and stare at pretty pictures for a few hours. I'll pass.

FAIL!

Obviously you are NOT too familar with Jame Cameron's work!

I'm quite familiar. Last -good- movie he did (IMHO) was 'Abyss'. I enjoy his earlier work, but his later stuff seems hollow and superficial.

It seems you like pretty graphics and fluff. Fair enough. I'm sure soon you'll be spazzing out over something new, so lets just agree to disagree.

Do people actually understand what this movie means for filmmaking? I mean the lighting and composition of the scenes doesn't get any better than this. The blue skin of the Navi looks as real as can be. Since, they don't exist in reality, real is a relative term as far as using it to label these images.

I can't say anything about the story yet, because it all depends on how well it's executed over the 150 min of the finished movie.

I bet all those people calling it hollow and superficial and unreal looking, watch other films that really don't have any standards at all.

This movie will surpass Titanic in worldwide box-office. :p :D

No.. it won't.

If you ask me, Cameron's suffering from Lucasitus.

He's doing way too much CGI to cover up for the lack of story.

Look closely and you'll see Jar Jar Binks in a couple of frames.

so I have to say when I first heard about this, I thought it was AirBender too.. lmao.. dont know why... but I am interested now. Looks like its going to be pretty nice..

But man whats with all the 3D movies now. Thats the new IN thing I guess

The same thing was said about Titan A.E., and the Final Fantasy movie. Hell, even Beowulf. It means it might look mind-blowing right now, but in 5 years, it will look dated and laughable. There is nothing amazing about the technical aspect used in this crap, especially when the story behind it is hollow and lacking.

I'd rather watch something that looks less realistic but has an involving story, than another Lucas or Cameron "lookie what I can do with 'puters!!" digital orgasm for a few hours. When the tech becomes obsolete, without a solid story, you've got another budget bin masterpiece. It might win a few technical awards, but this will be completely forgotten in 2 years time.

Simple things for simple minds, I guess.

Beowulf was alright, not that great though. Think it should of really been called "Let's have an excuse to get Angelina pretty starkers!". I don't get why Beowulf thought it was a good idea to strip down to his nethers for a fight.

It's NOT I only like pretty graphics. James Cameron's movies IMO are ALL very good in the plot, acting!!!

Documentary must not be your thing, cuz really all that's his later stuff and I loved them!

Terminator 2 was and STILL is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES! So is Aliens!

Man is a Genius, I can't see how people are doubting him now :|

I agree. I'll watch it now, if it's on and I can't find anything else to watch. But it's obviously fake, and already looks dated. Yet when it came out it was lauded for having amazing special effects and cgi.

If I remember right, it was because Grendel wasn't armed, or wore any armor. So in order to be heroic, Beowulf fought it on equal terms. Basically, he was showing off, to make the story better when it was told.

lol I thought it was a pretty well done movie myself. But yeah it was a good reason to have Angelina get naked and say, oh it was computerized so it wasn't real

Hence I said his earlier works. This CGI stuff is disposable garbage. Here today, forgotten tomorrow. You can watch Aliens today, and it's still a good film...and it's 23 years old. 23 years from now, all people will be doing with Avatar, is going "Wow, that looks fake...and that...that looks silly...". It makes it too easy to date your films, and they lose that timeless quality.

Off-topic, but is English your native language?

    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
    • Lol are you mad because I'm not using AI? I'd rather pay people than lose a bunch of potential customers and get humilated because I used AI. A lot of people won't purchase a game if it used AI during development.

    • hahahahah wow hahahah you sure got me there hahahahahah, you know that bad performance is always due to poor optimization by the developers, right???
    • "I know for a fact I'll never own one of these." This is why choice is better than government regulation. Globaly Android has something like 72% of the smartphone market. Granted the vast majority of that is low end phones. Apple can and should charge whatever they want. The market will decide if it is too much.
