James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

Recommended Posts

just got back from our second viewing, my wife wants to see it yet again :D

Saw it 3 times!!! SINK TITANIC!!! :D

Mediocre plot/acting. The art direction for human stuff (ships, planes etc.) is average. But Pandora art direction is top notch. CGI is amazing. Watch it in 3D at least. If youremvoe the CGI, there is nothingmuch in it.

What about the Love story?

Seems like a LOT of females are packing the theaters now!

Unlike Titanic, this is a movie I can actually GO with them!!! :woot:

Watched it last night. 3D and the visuals were absolutely breathtaking. But the story was ... meh. The first one and a half hours was yawn-inducing. The Na'vi seemed to be exactly like what we call elves in fantasy literature. Even "The Hometree" (or whatever it was called) looked like Galadriel's (LOTR) empire. And the plot was seen many many times in the past ... as recently as Terminator 4 (if you focus on the story from Sam Worthington's point of view). The ending seemed forced, with the white tentacled uber-tree sending hordes of dinosaur-dragon hybrids just when they were needed - it was just too co-incidental, and very unsatisfying.

Overall, enjoyed watching it but only because of the visuals. Now that the novelty factor of the 3D and visuals have worn off, won't watch it for a second time.

i saw it recently and it was the first 3D movie i had ever seen. i didn't really know what to expect. as soon as it began i started smiling and thinking to myself 'woaahh this is cool.' twas friggin awesome. and pandora is beautiful. my eyes had orgasms. i would totally see it again. and again. only problem is.. after seeing it in 3D, i don't know if i could stand to watch it on dvd or something. meh.

i want more movies with 3D this delicious.

Damn, I went saw this evening. I found the plot and effects (3D) to be fantastic!

I rate the overall movie 5/5 and judging by the amount of cheering and applause at the end I am pretty sure I am NOT the only one who thinks that!

Haha yea, that was funny. A few ppl clapped at the end and everyone, and I mean everyone, laughed. But yea, 3d is great. I think it is the first film that I've ever seen a full cinema and I go after the "busy" hours.

Yesssss! I enjoyed the few little Real3d into's that were in 3d like the dog etc, that was pretty cool. I can't wait for it to be released. I'm guessing you need one of those special 3d TV's to display Real3d? The 3d is awesome! Much better than anything else I have ever seen although Imax comes to a close second with those major face masks they used to hand out.

I can't say I thoroughly enjoyed sitting through the movie. Sure it was great but the 3d glasses are annoying, they made them for big headed people (at least in Australia). Those with an average sized head suffered because the glasses were quite uncomfortable and weren't suited for the correct head size. After I sat down on the way back home, I realised how much I enjoyed the movie and how much I enjoyed the plot, the characters and the little bit of romance that goes on throughout the film.

All in all 4.5, maybe 5 out of 5.

I went to watch it in 3D last night. Money well spent! The plot was better than I was expecting after reading about people finding it bland. The 3D effects, CGI detail and the eye candy of Pandora was astonishing. My only criticisim was it was a bit too long. They could have cut some of the stuff from the first half of the movie to try and get it to 2 hours IMO.

Overall 9/10 from me (nobody gets a 10!)

Just got back from watching Avatar in 3D on the IMAX. I pretty much crapped bricks. Absolutely amazing from start to finish, going to see it again ASAP!

lol me too.

I watched it last week and was blown away.

Im glad to see the 3D was used to give the film depth and perception, with no cheap gimmicks of objects flying at you!

Im off to watch it again next week!

Just to add another point, I'm not sure how good this film would be without the 3D to be honest.

Close one eye (with glasses on) and you will see in 2D. Before doing this, close both eyes for about a minute so as to prevent your eye from interpolating.

The multiplex I watched in had both 2D and 3D shows. While I was waiting for the 3D show to start, I snuck into the 2D screen and watched for about 30 seconds. It looked good, until I saw the 3D one. Probably will miss 3D for every movie I see till good 3D experience becomes the norm in cinemas.

The glasses were a real pain, though. Gave me a bad headache.

I saw it yesterday. It's probably one of the best movies I ever seen. The plot is nothing new and the acting won't win any awards but the world Cameron created is just awesome and the special effects are out of this world. A definite 9.5/10.

Where do you go get the signature like 24, Lost, Firefly from?

On Topic - but I think the acting from Zoe Saldana IS really award winning worthy!

↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ :D

Just came back from watching it, the plot is utterly, totally, definitively, absolutely, constantly CRAP

The production is top notch, but I couldn't even enjoy that because the plot and the character development was just so damn stupid.

    • Maybe it's just my old-school soul talking, but I’ve always felt that games aren't 'real' games until they hit the PC. Leaving the PC community out at launch just doesn't sit right with me. That being said, I'm probably going to buy the PS5 just for the fun of trying it out.

    • Rockstar confirms Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders begin next week, unveils cover art by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The release date of Grand Theft Auto VI has moved quite a lot since its original announcement in 2023, but it finally looks like the game has found its final launch slot. Rockstar today had a new video upload on its YouTube channel, and while it wasn't a new trailer for the game, the company revealed two things. This was the pre-order kickoff date for Grand Theft Auto VI as well as the game's official cover art. The company revealed that June 25 is when fans of the series will be able to pre-order their copy of Grand Theft Auto VI. Pre-orders will be available both digitally and in retail stores. The newly unveiled cover art shows off the two new protagonists, as well as a few more characters that are probably vital to the campaign storyline. Shots of vehicles players can use like a light helicopter, motorcycle, sports car, and speed boat are also seen here, alongside a shot of a crocodile. "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them," says Rockstar describing the campaign's protagonist duo. "But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive." Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not been confirmed yet, though it's expected by many to land after the console release. When asked about this, the Take-Two CEO says it considers the core audience for the Grand Theft Auto franchise to be on consoles.
